ESOL Co-Manager (Evenings)
Title: ESOL Evening Co-Manager
Work Year: 10-month, Part Time
Department: Shoreline Adult Education (SAE)
Reports to: Director of Adult Education
Location: Branford High School & Morgan High School (Clinton)
Hourly Rate: $47.00
Position Overview: This role is an integral part of the SAE Management Team, responsible for the oversight of all evening ESOL classes and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
* Program Leadership & Strategy
Coordinate the evening ESOL and Citizenship programming, including the development of semester schedules and the selection of instructional materials and digital resources.
* Grant Management & Compliance
Lead the annual writing of the federal PEP EL Civics grant. Monitor program implementation to ensure all state and federal grant requirements are met through mid-year and year-end reporting.
* Staff Supervision & Development
Oversee the recruitment, hiring, and orientation of part-time evening teachers, aides and volunteers. Conduct observations and evaluations to support professional growth and facilitate quarterly staff meetings and professional development.
* Curriculum & Instructional Excellence
Ensure all coursework aligns with Connecticut State Department of Education (SDE) requirements, including College and Career Readiness and English Language Proficiency Standards.
* Data Oversight & Assessment
In collaboration with the Program Facilitator and ESOL Program Assistant, oversee student data collection (registration, attendance, assessment and outcomes) within the LACES database. Use knowledge of the CASAS Assessment System to inform classroom instruction and professional development.
Education & Experience:
* A minimum of 5 years of ESOL teaching experience
* Valid CT Teaching Certification with Endorsement #088 (English to Non-English Speaking Adults) or #111 (TESOL). 092 Administrator certification is a plus
* Proficient in Google Workspace Applications, including Google Classroom
* Proven ability to work with diverse populations and individuals with limited English proficiency
Work Schedule:
* Approximately 15 hours per week
* Mondays: 4:15 8:15 PM in Branford
* Tuesday and Wednesdays:
Alternating between 4:15 - 8:15 PM in Branford and 5:30 - 8:00 PM in Clinton
* Thursdays: 5:30 8:00 PM in Clinton
Physical and Cognitive Demands:
Work in this classification is performed in classroom and school environments with adult learners. The position requires the ability to manage multiple tasks, supervise staff, and communicate effectively with students, staff, and community members. Regular use of computers and instructional technology is required.
