Presbyterian Healthcare Services, a leading non-profit healthcare system based in Albuquerque, NM, is seeking a skilled MRI Technician to join our Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this role, you will perform high-quality magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) studies to support accurate diagnosis and treatment for patients across a wide range of clinical conditions. Working closely with radiologists, nurses, and other members of the care team, you will ensure that all imaging procedures are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established protocols and regulatory standards. As an MRI Technician at Presbyterian Healthcare Services, you will greet and prepare patients for MRI examinations, verify patient identity and medical history, screen for MRI safety contraindications, and explain procedures to help reduce anxiety and ensure patient comfort. You will correctly position patients and select appropriate imaging parameters based on the ordered exam and the patient’s condition. Operating advanced MRI equipment, you will monitor image quality in real time, adjust scan sequences when necessary, and collaborate with radiologists to obtain optimal diagnostic images. You will be responsible for maintaining a safe MRI environment, including strict adherence to MRI safety zones, screening for implants and devices, and recognizing and responding to emergencies or adverse reactions to contrast agents. You will follow infection control and patient privacy standards at all times, ensuring compliance with hospital policies, The Joint Commission guidelines, and applicable state and federal regulations. Documentation of exams, use of the electronic health record, and accurate completion of imaging logs and quality control records are key components of the role. The culture at Presbyterian Healthcare emphasizes patient-centered care, respect, integrity, accountability, quality, and safety. As an MRI Technician, you will model these values in every interaction, providing compassionate care to patients and families while maintaining professionalism and clear communication with physicians and colleagues. You will participate in cross-functional teamwork, contribute to workflow efficiency, and help maintain an environment that supports positive patient experiences and meaningful health outcomes. This position offers opportunities for professional growth through ongoing education, exposure to diverse case types, and collaboration with experienced radiology professionals. You may be involved in training new staff or students, implementing new imaging protocols, and participating in quality improvement initiatives. You will also help maintain and troubleshoot MRI equipment at a basic level, reporting issues promptly to biomedical engineering or vendors to minimize downtime and ensure reliable operation. Qualified candidates will typically have completed an accredited radiologic technology or MRI program, hold ARRT certification in Radiography and/or MRI or an equivalent MRI credential, and possess or be eligible for relevant state licensure. Strong technical skills in MRI operation, familiarity with PACS and RIS/EHR systems, and a solid understanding of cross-sectional anatomy, pathology, MRI physics, and contrast safety are expected. Attention to detail, the ability to follow protocols accurately, and strong communication skills are essential to success in this role. By joining Presbyterian Healthcare Services, you will become part of a collaborative radiology team dedicated to delivering high-quality imaging services that directly support patient care. You will work in a modern clinical environment with advanced MRI technology, benefit from a supportive leadership structure, and contribute every day to improving the health of the communities we serve.
