If you're ready to grow and make an impact, we'd love to be on your team.

The Technical Product Specialist (TPS) Flow Control is responsible for accelerating the growth of Process Automation (PA) solutions by partnering with Account Managers to win opportunities, reduce technical risk, and strengthen sales capability across the organization.

This role operates as both a deal accelerator and a sales enablement leader, supporting the continued expansion of AWC's hybrid FA/PA sales approach. The Technical Product Specialist works closely with customers, sales teams, and manufacturer partners to deliver practical, high-value automation solutions.

How you'll make an impact:

  • Lead technical discovery discussions to understand customer applications, constraints, and risks
  • Support solution development including control valve sizing, selection, and system design
  • Participate in strategic and high-value customer engagements to improve win rates and reduce cycle time

Technical Expertise & Risk Mitigation

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for flow control technologies including control valves, automated valves, and diagnostics
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose application and installation challenges, providing timely and effective solutions
  • Ensure technical accuracy and feasibility of proposed solutions

Sales Enablement & Capability Building

  • Coach Account Managers on identifying and positioning PA opportunities within their accounts
  • Conduct joint customer visits, ride-alongs, and hands-on training to build field competency
  • Support the transition from TPS-led to Account Manager-led opportunities over time
  • Develop repeatable sales approaches for common flow control applications

Customer Engagement & Value Demonstration

  • Deliver technical presentations, product demonstrations, and training sessions to customers and internal teams
  • Build credibility with engineering, operations, and maintenance stakeholders
  • Reinforce AWC's value proposition through consistent, high-quality customer interactions

Product Feedback & Solution Development

  • Provide structured feedback to engineering teams and manufacturer partners based on field experience
  • Identify gaps in current offerings and contribute to solution development initiatives
  • Support testing and validation of new products and technologies

Standardization & Process Development

  • Develop tools, templates, and playbooks for opportunity qualification and solution selection
  • Help standardize best practices across teams to improve consistency and scalability
  • Contribute to improving overall sales process efficiency for flow control opportunities

Skills you'll need:

  • Strong knowledge of process control, flow control, and industrial applications
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into clear business value for customers
  • Proven ability to influence and collaborate with sales teams and cross-functional partners
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills
  • High learning agility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Here's what will set you apart:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum, Engineering Technology, or equivalent industry experience
  • Experience in industrial applications, technical sales, or application engineering (flow control preferred)
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with manufacturer partners
  • Knowledge of control valves and automated valves (Emerson, Flowserve, Masoneilan, Samson, Valmet, etc.)

Success Metrics

  • Growth of PA revenue within FA-led accounts
  • Reduction in sales cycle time for flow control opportunities
  • Increased win rate on technically complex deals
  • Improvement in Account Manager capability to independently lead PA opportunities
