Switchboard Design Engineer,
responsible for designing, developing, and supporting electrical switchboards and power distribution systems for use in industrial, and utility applications. The role involves creating detailed electrical schematics, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and coordinating with manufacturing, project management, and field teams to deliver safe and reliable switchboard solutions. Key Responsibilities: Design and develop
electrical switchboards , motor control centers, and power distribution panels. Prepare
electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, single-line diagrams, and panel layouts . Perform
load calculations, bus ampacity calculations, control and protection design Select appropriate
switchgear, breakers, busbars, relays, and protection devices . Ensure designs comply with relevant standards such as
IEEE ,
IEC ,
National Electrical Manufacturers Association , and
Underwriters Laboratories . Use electrical design software such as
AutoCAD Electrical
to develop and maintain design documentation. Collaborate with project managers, procurement teams, and production staff to ensure design feasibility and cost efficiency. Review and approve technical drawings, vendor documents, and engineering changes. Provide technical support during manufacturing, factory acceptance testing (FAT), and commissioning. Troubleshoot electrical design issues and propose improvements. Maintain documentation and design records for compliance and future reference. Assist with RFQ’s and proposal generation Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in
Electrical Engineering
or related field. 2–5+ years of experience in switchboard or power distribution system design (experience level may vary by company). Strong understanding of
electrical protection systems, power distribution, and switchgear . Proficiency with electrical design and drafting software. Knowledge of electrical codes and standards. Ability to read and interpret complex electrical drawings and specifications. Preferred Skills: Experience with
short-circuit and load flow studies . Familiarity with
PLC systems and control panels . Experience with
UL-listed panel design
and certification processes. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Effective communication and teamwork abilities. Work Environment: Combination of
office-based engineering design work and manufacturing floor support . Occasional travel may be required for
