The QA/QC Inspector (Electrical & Instrumentation) is responsible for ensuring all electrical and instrumentation construction activities meet project specifications, industry codes, and client quality requirements. This role provides oversight of subcontractors, verifies compliance with approved procedures, and supports successful project delivery through disciplined inspection, documentation, and quality assurance practices. The inspector will support construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning, turnover, and start-up phases on oil, gas, and LNG facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Assurance & Compliance
Perform inspections, tests, and verifications in accordance with approved Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) and completion of Inspection Test Reports (ITRs), project specifications, and engineering standards. Issue and manage Monitor, Witness, and Hold Points to ensure adherence to client and vendor requirements. Provide oversight of subcontractor quality programs, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications, supply specifications, and approved procedures. Validate installation and testing of electrical and instrumentation systems, including high- and low-voltage equipment, following NEC and applicable industry codes. Construction Quality Control
Conduct field inspections for electrical and instrumentation installations, including cable routing, terminations, grounding, panels, instruments, and control systems. Identify non-conformances, document findings, and verify corrective actions to prevent rework and maintain construction efficiency. Track work packages and maintain accurate documentation to minimize double work and ensure traceability. Support turnover and system completion activities, ensuring all quality records are complete and accurate. Pre-Commissioning & Commissioning Support
Participate in pre-commissioning and commissioning activities, verifying readiness of systems for energization and start-up. Review and validate test results, loop checks, functional tests, and equipment reliability checks. Collaborate with construction, engineering, and commissioning teams to resolve quality issues and support safe, efficient start-up. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain organized quality documentation, including inspection reports, test records, NCRs, and turnover packages. Generate weekly QA progress reports to reflect program effectiveness and highlight key issues or risks. Support document management activities to ensure accurate and timely recordkeeping. Leadership & Collaboration
Provide guidance and mentorship to project teams regarding quality standards, procedures, and best practices. Coordinate with engineering, construction management, and subcontractors to ensure alignment on quality expectations. Promote a culture of operational excellence, safety, and continuous improvement. Qualifications
Thorough experience in Electrical & Instrumentation Quality Control within oil, gas, LNG, or large-scale energy projects. Extensive background supporting EPC/EPCM project execution. Strong knowledge of electrical systems, high- and low-voltage installations, NEC requirements, and instrumentation reliability. Proven ability to lead, motivate, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams. Strong organizational skills with expertise in documentation, reporting, and quality tracking. Experience supporting construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning, turnover, and start-up phases. Must be willing to be assigned to job site locations, on a full time basis, with potential for overtime hours.
