Brandmotion is building the next generation of OEM-grade, connected vehicle safety systems designed in-house. We are hiring a Lead Systems Engineer to take ownership of how our products are architected, built, and launched. This role is accountable for: End-to-end system performance (hardware + firmware + cloud) Engineering discipline and product launch rigor Reducing field issues through better design and validation Raising the technical standard of the team T his is not a narrow embedded role. You will operate as the technical backbone of product development, working across internal engineers and external partners, and ensuring that what we ship works—reliably, repeatedly, and at scale. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES 1. System Architecture & Technical Ownership -Own the end-to-end system architecture across: Embedded hardware & firmware Vehicle integration (CAN, camera, radar, GPS) Cloud connectivity, APIs, and data flow -Ensure all components function as a cohesive, production-ready system -Make and drive key technical decisions that impact performance, cost, and scalability -Partner with internal R&D and external developers to ensure alignment to system design 2. Software & Connected Systems Leadership -Oversee development of: Embedded C/C++ systems Cloud-connected functionality (data, APIs, communication layers) -Provide technical direction to internal and external software resources -Ensure software is: Structured and modular Testable and maintainable Designed for real-world operating conditions -Establish standards for code quality, version control, and review processes 3. Product Launch Discipline & Execution -Own the technical side of product launch readiness -Define and enforce: Milestones Readiness criteria Go / no-go decisions -Identify risks early and drive resolution before they become field issues -Bring predictability and accountability to development timelines 4. Quality, Validation & Reliability -Own the principle: “First make it impossible to ship a bad part, then make it impossible to make a bad part.” -Lead: DFMEA participation and enforcement Validation strategy and execution Design-for-production decisions -Ensure products are robust across: Electrical stress (ISO standards) Environmental conditions Real-world vehicle use cases -Drive root cause discipline on field issues and ensure learning feeds forward 5. Engineering Process & Standards -Establish and enforce: Documentation standards Design review rigor Code review practices -Improve how engineering work is structured and tracked -Introduce clarity and accountability into the development process -Elevate the performance of the team through standards, not supervision MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field Experience in automotive embedded product development, testing, team leadership
