Manager (SMG)Job Code: SMG-ENG-DHWJob Band: 11Direct/Indirect Indicator: IndirectSummaryAs the Senior Manager of Hardware Design Engineering (Thermal), you will lead a world-class team in developing cutting-edge cooling solutions for AI servers, switches, and accelerators. We are looking for a collaborative leader to partner with cross-functional architects to define best-in-class products while pushing the boundaries of thermal technology. You will leverage your expertise in heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and 3D simulation to transition concepts from initial schematics through to rigorous testing and full-scale manufacturing. By integrating feedback from supply chain and reliability experts, you'll ensure our high-performance systems are as robust as they are innovative. If you're ready to solve the industry's toughest thermal challenges in a high-impact environment, this is the role for you.Detailed DescriptionPerforms tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:Lead the design, development and implementation of technical solutions for complex projects, involving multiple domains. Participate in project planning and scheduling. .Take responsibility for non-technical elements of an engineering project (people, financials etc.).Review and interpret customer requirements/specifications and may act as primary customer contract.Analyze trade-offs in complex systems and recommend solutions. Develops deployment strategies and plans.Lead the deployment of strategic complex programs and coordinate site-wide deployment efforts.May manage relationships with key vendors/partners.Research systems ideas and will draw up plans for these systemsDesign, modify and implement systems that meet customer and Celestica needs.Create designs in line with Celesticas procedures, regulations and customer standardsKeep up to date with relevant industry knowledge and regulationsSolve complex problemsLiaison with suppliers, customers, contractors, and other internal teams.Recommend system modificationsSet yearly plans and goals for the department, give direction on expected performance, provide regular performance evaluations and ongoing feedback. Accountable for all department objectives and achieving agreed targets for key performance indicators.Analyzing and interpreting data and informationCalculate factors like tolerance, dimensions, and thermal and structural analysisKnowledge/Skills/CompetenciesStrong user of Flotherm as CFD analysis tool. Transient analysis experience is a plusExpert in various heat sinks, heat pipe, vapor chamber design/selection, liquid cooling or other advanced cooling technology is a plusIn-depth experience in various fan speed control methodology and over temperature protection mechanism Expert with thermal measurement technology and test tools such as temperature data logger, IR camera, wind tunnel, air speed meter etc.Advanced knowledge of Mechanical design tool such as Pro/E considered a plus.Advanced knowledge of server/storage/switch system architecture is a plus.Broad knowledge of industry standards including SBB, NEBS, GR-63, ASHRAE TC9.9,etcPhysical DemandsDuties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.Occasional travel may be required.Typical Experience10+ Years of experience with Thermal Design and SimulationRequires 4+ years of managerial/leadership experienceHighly self-motivated with a strong multi-disciplinary backgroundExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsSuccessful track record bringing products to marketTypical EducationBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experiencePreferred Degree but not Required: Master's Degree in Mechanical EngineeringEducational Requirements may vary by GeographyNotesThis job description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities of the position.
