Content Tutors provide academic support to enrolled University students through one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions. The tutor proactively guides student development toward a deeper understanding of course material, improved learning skills, and confidence in their academic abilities. This role requires a proactive and friendly approach and offers the opportunity to enhance subject knowledge and academic skills, while gaining valuable experience in leadership, learning strategies, professional and interpersonal communications skills, time management, and organization skills. Content Tutoring is a part of the Weinstein Learning Center's collaborative approach to providing academic support to the University community. Starting Pay: $13.75/hr with opportunities for promotions and pay increases with experience and training up to $15.00/hr Specific Duties: Provide individualized and group tutoring sessions in designated subject areas Foster an active, positive, learning environment Assist students with acquiring skills and concepts, and encourage active learning and critical thinking Develop strong time management and organization skills Reliably respond to communications and reporting work hours Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions and student progress. Attend tutor training sessions and ongoing professional development. Adhere to the Weinstein Learning Center's policies, the university's academic integrity policies and policies outlined in the Student Employment Handbook. Requirements: Work a minimum of 5 hours per week Attend a minimum of 10 hours of training per semester Provide a statement of support for courses interested in tutoring (The template will be provided upon hiring.) Qualifications: Active undergraduate or graduate status at University of Richmond Strong academic performance (minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred). Proficiency in the subject area(s) to be tutored Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively with diverse student, staff, and faculty populations Strong organizational and time management skills Patience, adaptability, and a supportive attitude Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism No previous tutoring experience required Possible Specialties: Embedded Tutoring Ideal for tutors interested in being closely associated with a specific course Serve as a liaison, helping to clarify information between the instructor and students Commit to becoming well-versed in course material and assignments for the assigned course Assist with student learning during class sessions Meet individually or in groups with students to help them better understand the content How to Apply: 1.
