Dental Clinical Assistant

The individual in this role must demonstrate strong character, professionalism, and a willingness to learn and be coached. They should be able to objectively evaluate their own performance in order to effectively learn the processes of dental hygiene and dental assisting. This individual is expected to follow all requirements and expectations outlined during orientation with Singing River Dentistry.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Turn over operatory rooms efficiently, prioritizing based on patient wait times
• Print routing slips as needed
• Perform sterilization and instrument processing in accordance with protocols
• Prepare pre-bagged supplies for patient care, ensuring all necessary items are included
• Set up trays for patient care throughout the day and at closing
• Stock instruments and supplies in drawers and cabinets to maintain organization and readiness
• Seat patients for the hygienist as needed
• Take radiographs as needed
• Monitor the hygiene schedule and communicate with team members if delays occur; assist in coordinating support when patients are waiting
• Polish and floss patients' teeth as directed
• Complete charting, including existing dental work, treatment plans, and periodontal charting
• Maintain inventory in the supply closet and notify the appropriate department when supplies are low
• Assist hygienists as needed, including suctioning and radiograph support
• Remove trash and ensure operatories are properly closed down at the end of the day
• Monitor the hygiene schedule in coordination with the Scheduling Coordinator to help fill cancellations through internal adjustments and recall lists
• Provide excellent customer service to ensure each patient has a smooth and comfortable experience
• Follow all OSHA and company safety protocols
• Accurately chart and enter clinical notes in Open Dental

High school diploma or GED required.
