Edison Smart are looking to hire a BAS Design Engineer to support a growing Controls business located near Baltimore MD. The BAS Design Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting Building Automation Systems (BAS) for commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities. This role involves creating control system designs, generating drawings and submittals. Key Responsibilities Design and engineer BAS solutions, including HVAC controls, energy management systems, and integration with other building systems Develop control system architecture, sequences of operation, and points lists Produce detailed design documentation such as control drawings, wiring diagrams, and submittal packages Select appropriate hardware and software components (controllers, sensors, actuators, etc.) Collaborate with project managers, field technicians, and clients to ensure project requirements are met Support commissioning activities, including system testing and troubleshooting Review project specifications and ensure designs comply with industry standards and codes Assist in cost estimation and proposal development when required Provide technical support during installation and post-project phases Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience) 3+ years of experience in BAS/controls system design Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and control strategies Experience with BAS platforms (e.g., Johnson Controls, Siemens, Honeywell, Schneider Electric, etc.) Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar design software Understanding of communication protocols (BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, etc.) Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings
