Mountain Gateway Community College (MGCC) is a two-year public institution of higher education and one of 23 community colleges in Virginia. The college is supported by the Commonwealth of Virginia; the counties of Alleghany, Bath, Botetourt (northern portion) and Rockbridge; the cities of Buena Vista, Covington, and Lexington; and the town of Clifton Forge. Now Hiring: Adjunct Instructor - MG-TEC Information Technology Laboratory School Mountain Gateway Community College is redefining IT education. We are seeking an innovative, hands-on educator to lead our MG-TEC IT Laboratory School, a program designed to move beyond the textbook and put high school students on the front lines of the tech industry. At MG-TEC, we build environments that mirror real-world IT workplaces. The Role
As a part-time Adjunct Instructor, you will provide expert instruction across a range of IT disciplines. You won't just be lecturing; you'll be guiding students through networking, cybersecurity, programming, and database management using industry-aligned practices. Your goal is to help students earn industry-recognized credentials and develop the applied problem-solving skills necessary for immediate employment or further degree pursuit. Core Responsibilities Instruction: Teach IST courses in networking, cybersecurity, programming, and database systems using active, technology-enhanced strategies. Certification Support: Guide students through the training required for key industry certifications. Curriculum Innovation: Design and deliver content in face-to-face, hybrid, and online modalities that reflects current industry standards. Recruitment & Outreach: Engage with area middle and high schools to recruit the next cohort of tech leaders and participate in community outreach. Professional Growth: Maintain currency in the field and complete necessary licensure for K-12 teaching settings. Collaboration: Work across the MGCC Main Campus (Clifton Forge) and the Rockbridge Regional Center (Buena Vista). What We're Looking For

KSA's/Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Systems, Information Systems, Computer Science or related field with industry certifications such as, but not limited to, Cisco (CCNA, CCAI, and/or CCSI), C3, Network+, Security+, AWS (Cloud Practitioner, Solutions Architect Associate, etc.), Microsoft (Azure Administrator, Azure Fundamentals, etc.), CompTIA (A+, Network+, Security+), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Cisco.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple projects; Ability to work independently; Ability to analyze problems, identifies solutions, and take appropriate action to resolve problems while following college policies and procedures; Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, faculty, students and the public.
Additional Considerations
Master's degree in Information Technology Information Systems, Computer Science or related field with 18 graduate credit hours in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science or closely related discipline
