Odyssey is a full-scale K-12 Charter School currently serving 2,300 students. Our School has a growing dual Greek language immersion program, innovative green Initiative, community food program, and high academic outcomes. Odyssey is united in our mission to prepare lifelong learners who are culturally aware, global citizens that utilize critical thinking and problem-solving skills grounded in the classical teachings of Greek education and language. This approach trains students to use the Socratic Method and inquiry approach to learning while leveraging their unique skills and talents equitably and democratically to create a positive culture where all students can find success.
Minimum Qualifications: Must hold a valid, active Delaware Teaching License and Certificate in required content area in accordance with 14 Del. C. § 1531. Successful completion of Praxis II exams. Proficient in English Language, both written and spoken. Experience teaching in Elementary Grades in an immersion or foreign language program preferred Relevant teaching experience preferred Experience teaching students with diverse needs A global citizenship and collaborative mindset Experience working in a multicultural/multilingual environment Additional qualifications and/or alternatives as deemed necessary by the Board of Education and Administration Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Effectively Teach a diverse group of High School students (Grades 9-12)); subject areas include: Computer Science and Digital Design Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of all students utilizing Odyssey Charter School and the Board of Education's educational philosophy and policies Creates a safe and engaging classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of all students Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superior Encourages all students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior Interprets and uses data from a variety of educational sources for the improvement of instruction. Assesses the accomplishments of all students on a regular basis and provides reports as required, as well as notifying parents of student progress when necessary Identifies the learning disabilities of all students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialists as required Encourages and assists in the development of independent study habits Communicates with all students concerning their academic and behavioral progress Acts in ways, which are likely to promote students' feelings of self-worth Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation Retains and prepares select student work for year-end art show in collaboration with other school art teachers Saves, maintains, and displays student work throughout the building every marking period Maintains a professional relationship, working cooperatively with all school personnel Meets responsibilities as per contractual agreement and State law Pursues opportunities for professional growth Must report to work on time every workday, except as afforded by existing law Must perform all duties as assigned during scheduled workdays Works cooperatively with all Odyssey stakeholders Performs other duties as assigned.
