UPMC Passavant is hiring an experienced Medical Assistant to support our Colorectal Surgery Department at the McCandless location. This is a patient-facing role in a fast-paced specialty environment, ideal for MAs who enjoy working both independently and as part of a large care team.

- Manage patient medical records in compliance with HIPAA and other regulations and maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data.
- Obtain and process lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, and referral information.
- Complete necessary forms and schedule appointments.
- Verify insurance coverage and patient demographics.
- Prepare and manage patient charts.
- Perform front office tasks as needed.
- Prepare and clean patient rooms and equipment according to protocols.
- Maintain inventory and restock supplies.
- Organize patient flow and assist patients with various needs.
- Collect patient information, take vitals, and perform screenings.
- Relay instructions to patients and families.
- Answer calls and provide patient education.
- Assist physicians with procedures and document patient information.
- Comply with regulatory requirements (i.e., OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health) along with all UPMC Health System policies and procedures
*Perform in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
*Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic, and treatment room responsibilities.
- 35 years of Medical Assistant experience
- Experience with high-level disinfection of scopes*
- Prior Epic Care experience*
*Can be taught
Licenses, Certifications, and Clearances:- CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
- Act 34
