In this role, you will perform comprehensive respiratory assessments, develop and implement individualized treatment plans, and administer a wide range of therapies, including oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, and chest physiotherapy. You will set up, operate, and monitor ventilators and non-invasive ventilation equipment, adjusting settings based on patient status and established protocols. You will obtain and analyze arterial blood gases, interpret results in conjunction with other clinical data, and communicate findings promptly to the medical team. The Respiratory Therapist will participate in emergency responses and code situations, providing airway management and life-support interventions as needed.
Working closely with physicians, nurses, and other members of the interdisciplinary team, you will contribute to care planning, provide input on respiratory care protocols, and ensure that all therapies are delivered safely and effectively. You will educate patients and their families on respiratory conditions, inhaler and nebulizer use, home oxygen safety, and disease self-management to promote long-term health and reduce readmissions. Accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record is essential, as is adherence to infection prevention practices, equipment cleaning and maintenance procedures, and hospital safety policies.
