*Project Controls & Analytics Manager | Engineering* *C2 Group (Conekt2, Inc.) | San Diego, CA | $85,000 – $120,000 DOE | Full-time*
We’re a 150-person, women-owned strategic consulting and infrastructure technology firm. We inspect, engineer, and de-risk the assets that move power across the United States and Hawaii, partnering with utilities including PG&E, SCE, and SDG&E. We’ve inspected over a million utility structures, pioneered enterprise drone programs, and we run on LiDAR, GIS, predictive analytics, and AI workflows that most of our peers are still PowerPointing about.
We don’t need another project coordinator. We need someone to build the nervous system that tells our executive team, in real time, how engineering is actually performing.
*What you'll own*
You will design and run the data infrastructure; the schedules, trackers, dashboards, and executive rollups that provide our leadership team with a single source of truth across every active engineering project. This is a build role, not a maintain role. You will architect it, not inherit it.
Specifically, you will:
* Design and stand up a project tracking and scheduling database covering all engineering programs (T&D engineering, wildfire mitigation, utility inspections, GIS/LiDAR deliverables, potentially federal work).
* Build BI reporting layers (Power BI preferred) that surface production metrics, schedule variance, resource utilization, deliverable status, and forward-looking trend analysis for executive leadership.
* Develop forecasting models for production output, milestone risk, and client deliverable performance, and tell us what the data is actually saying, not just what it shows.
* Partner with engineering leads, project managers, and the executive team to translate operational data into decisions about staffing, capacity, client communication, and pursuit strategy.
* Establish the metrics and cadence that turn "how are we doing?" from a meeting into a dashboard.
*What we’re looking for*
* 3+ years in project controls, PMO analytics, business intelligence, or engineering operations, ideally in utility, infrastructure, EPC, or A/E consulting environments.
* Demonstrated ability to design relational data structures from scratch. SQL fluency expected. Experience with Smartsheet, MS Project, Primavera P6, or equivalent scheduling platforms is a plus.
* Strong Power BI (or Tableau) skills, DAX, data modeling, semantic layers, not just drag-and-drop dashboards.
* A working understanding of how engineering and field projects actually run: scope, schedule, cost, deliverables, and the ways each of those goes sideways.
* Comfort presenting to executives. You will be in front of them.
* Bias toward systems thinking and automation. If your instinct is to build the workflow once rather than do it manually 50 times, you’ll fit here.
*Bonus points*
* Experience with utility wildfire mitigation, T&D, drone inspection programs, or LiDAR/GIS workflows.
* Familiarity with AI/LLM-assisted analytics workflows (we use them aggressively).
* Python or R for data wrangling and forecasting.
* Background in PMO maturity models or earned value management (EVM).
*Why C2*
We are a tech-forward firm run by builders, not bureaucrats. We adopt tools years before our peers, and we expect our team to use them. The work is real: wildfire risk, grid reliability, federal infrastructure, and our leadership team is unusually accessible. We pay competitively, we move fast, and we don't waste your time with theater.
*Compensation:* $85,000 – $120,000 base, depending on experience. Full benefits, 401(k), PTO. Hybrid schedule out of San Diego.
*To apply: *Submit your résumé and a brief note about a tracking or BI system you built from scratch, what it replaced, how you designed it, and what it now does that nothing did before.
