We are seeking a highly capable Senior Web Project Manager to lead complex website builds with a focus on strategic alignment, structural integrity, quality oversight, and conversion performance.
This role goes beyond traditional project management. The right candidate will understand how website structure, content, design, and functionality work together to drive user behavior and business results. You will ensure that every component of a site not only fits within the overall architecture, but also contributes to performance goals such as engagement, lead generation, and conversion.
You will act as the central point of clarity across projects—maintaining alignment, enforcing consistency, and continuously evaluating whether the site is being built in a way that supports both user experience and measurable outcomes.
*Core Purpose for this Role*
* Hold and maintain the big-picture vision of complex web projects
* Ensure consistency, structure, and quality across all components of a site
* Serve as the decision filter for how work is executed—not just whether it gets done
* Reduce executive dependency by confidently managing alignment and quality
*PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES*
*Project Architecture Oversight*
Develop and maintain a clear understanding of the full website structure, including navigation systems, content hierarchy, page relationships, and functional components. Ensure all work aligns with the intended architecture and user experience. Ensure that site architecture supports both usability and conversion pathways, not just organization
*Strategic Quality Control*
Lead quality assurance with a focus on structural consistency, alignment with content strategy, and adherence to established patterns. Evaluate not just execution, but whether the right decisions are being made. Evaluate not just whether something is built correctly, but whether it is structured in a way that will perform effectively with users.
*Conversion & Performance Optimization*
Evaluate site structure, navigation, and content flow through a conversion-focused lens
Ensure pages are designed and structured to:
* Guide user behavior intentionally
* Support clear calls to action
* Reduce friction in key user journeys
Identify missed opportunities to improve:
* Lead generation
* Engagement
* Content clarity and hierarchy
Collaborate with content and design teams to refine:
* Page structure
* Messaging hierarchy
* CTA placement and effectiveness
Ensure that performance considerations are integrated during the build, not retrofitted after launch
*Cross-Team Alignment*
Coordinate between designers, developers, and content teams to ensure unified execution. Monitor contributions from multiple team members and vendors to maintain consistency in styling and implementation.
*Decision-Making & Oversight*
Serve as a key decision-maker for content structure, implementation consistency, and execution standards. Escalate only when necessary with clear recommendations.
*Pattern & System Governance*
Identify and enforce repeatable patterns across the site. Prevent unnecessary variations in design, layout, and component behavior. Ensure repeatable patterns are not only consistent, but also optimized for usability and conversion
*Final Quality Assurance & Launch Readiness*
Lead final QA processes including full-site reviews, navigation validation, and content integrity checks to ensure the site functions as a cohesive, polished product.
*POTENTIAL ROLE PROGRESSION*
*Phase 1: Initial Contract Period - Contract*
Internal-facing role focused on learning company standards and expectations. Own quality control and alignment while shadowing client communication.
*Phase 2: Expanded Role - Contract*
Begin direct client interaction, lead alignment conversations, and make strategic decisions with minimal oversight.
*Phase 3: Target State - FTE potential*
Own full project oversight, act as leadership proxy in decision-making, and escalate only high-level strategic issues.
*RELATED EXPERIENCE*
* 5+ years managing complex website projects (agency experience strongly preferred)
* Demonstrated ability to oversee large, multi-layered website builds
* Strong understanding of website architecture, navigation systems, and content hierarchy
* Experience evaluating or contributing to website conversion performance understanding of how navigation structure, content hierarchy and page layout impact user behavior and outcomes
* Understanding of UX/UI principles as a decision-maker
* Proven ability to manage and align cross-functional teams
* Exceptional attention to detail with strong big-picture thinking
Pay: $80.00 per hour
Application Question(s):
* Describe the most complex website project where you developed the architecture and managed the production. How did you keep track of the overall structure and ensure all contributors stayed aligned to it?
* When reviewing a website structure (navigation + page hierarchy), what specifically are you looking for to determine whether it will support conversions?
* When reviewing a website in progress, what specifically are you looking for beyond surface-level QA?
* Describe a time when you had to make a call about how content should be structured or organized on a site.
What factors influenced your decision?
* How do you identify when a project is starting to drift into too many variations in layout or design? What steps do you take to correct that?
* You’re reviewing a service page that is technically correct but underperforming. Walk through how you would evaluate and improve it.
* Provide 4 URLs to complex websites you planned and directed, leading a team.
