In this role, you will be responsible for preparing patients for CT procedures, verifying patient identity, reviewing clinical histories and physician orders, and explaining exams to reduce anxiety and improve cooperation. You will position patients accurately according to protocol, select appropriate technical factors, and operate multi-slice CT scanners and related equipment to obtain diagnostic-quality images. You will follow established imaging protocols while adapting to patient condition as needed, and promptly alert radiologists or physicians to any urgent or critical findings.
You will adhere to strict radiation safety standards, including ALARA principles, proper shielding, and dose optimization techniques tailored to patient size, age, and clinical indication. The CT Technologist will be expected to maintain a safe environment by following Methodist Health System and regulatory guidelines for infection prevention, equipment safety checks, and emergency procedures. You will also be responsible for starting or assisting with IV access for contrast administration, screening patients for contrast contraindications, monitoring patients during and after contrast injection, and responding appropriately to any adverse reactions.
Accurate documentation and workflow management are essential components of this position. You will verify orders in the electronic health record, confirm exam indications, and ensure correct patient, procedure, and site verification for every study. You will use PACS and RIS systems to process, annotate, and transmit images, complete exam documentation, and manage worklists efficiently to support timely turnaround times. The role includes participation in quality assurance activities, including image quality review, protocol optimization, and routine equipment performance checks, and promptly reporting equipment malfunctions or safety concerns.

You will support departmental goals, participate in ongoing education and skills development, and help orient or mentor new team members or students as appropriate. Flexibility to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call assignments may be required to support 24/7 imaging services.
Candidates should hold current ARRT registration in Radiography with advanced certification in CT, or be eligible and committed to obtaining CT certification within an established timeframe, as well as maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to remain calm and efficient in emergent or high-stress situations are essential.
