Your New Role...As an MCR Supervisor , you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the Master Control Room (MCR) operations. Your mission? To ensure a reliable and efficient service in our dynamic 24/7 broadcast environment. You’ll coordinate people, processes, and technology to support high-profile live outputs, working closely with internal teams and external partners to maintain our high operational standards.
Your Role Accountabilities...- Supervise MCR shift operations in a fast-paced 24/7 environment.
- Lead the MCR team, focusing on wellbeing, development, culture, and performance.
- Create an engaging MCR environment that fosters collaboration during high-profile events.
- Manage staff rosters, ensuring the right skills are available for each event.
- Proactively oversee daily MCR activities, including fault investigation and resolution.
- Ensure the team is fully trained and prepared for all scheduled events.
- Encourage effective delegation and knowledge sharing within the MCR team.
- Represent the MCR in internal and external meetings.
- Contribute to planning future operational requirements and events.
- Coordinate with Production, T&O departments, and third-party providers for successful live content delivery.
- Attend operational and planning meetings, influencing decision-making.
- Help define and maintain MCR technical workflows and systems.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and escalate faults as needed.
- Write and compile detailed reports on MCR issues or outages.
- Provide day-to-day management for all staff on shift, overseeing 10+ direct reports.
- Previous supervisory or managerial experience, including recruitment and team culture development.
- Experience in staff training and maintaining/updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Thorough understanding of MCR systems, equipment, and broadcast delivery models.
- Expertise in troubleshooting technical issues and developing effective workarounds.
- Operational knowledge of MCR technology and workflows, including SDI and IP video/audio routing.
- Familiarity with broadcast control systems, ideally BNCS and Nevion Video IPath.
- Understanding of video/audio timing principles and contribution standards.
- Experience with professional satellite contribution equipment.
- Ability to create and maintain operational processes in collaboration with other teams.
Working Conditions: The MCR operates 24/7/365. This role is shift-based, requiring a 40-hour work week that includes weekends and public holidays.
Onsite Working: This position is advertised as onsite, meaning all working hours will be conducted at the workplace. Changes to this agreement may occur based on business needs, with reasonable notice.
