We are seeking a hands-on IT Engineer to support the deployment, installation, and maintenance of physical IT and networking infrastructure across multiple sites. This role is well suited to an engineer with a strong infrastructure or field engineering background who enjoys on-site project work and is keen to broaden their technical skill set across networking, systems, and cloud platforms.
You will work closely with internal teams to deliver reliable, secure, and well-documented infrastructure solutions, while also assisting with the monitoring and support of distributed and global environments.
Preferred Background
* Previous experience in a field engineering, infrastructure, or on-site deployment role
* Background within telecoms, ISP, or managed services environments (e.g. Openreach, Sky UK, or similar)
Must-Have Skills & Experience
* Proven experience with *structured cabling* and professional *cable management*
* Hands-on experience with:
* Network patching
* Rack installation and equipment mounting
* Experience installing and commissioning physical IT and networking equipment, including:
* Wireless Access Points (APs)
* Network switches
* CCTV and security camera systems
* Related infrastructure and networking hardware
* Full *UK driving licence*
* Strong practical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
* Ability to follow site standards, safety procedures, and technical documentation
Willingness & Attitude
* Willingness to learn and develop new technical and infrastructure skills
* Willingness to *travel nationwide* for on-site installations and project work
* Ability and interest in assisting with *monitoring and supporting global infrastructure and sites*
* Positive, proactive attitude and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Nice-to-Have Skills & Experience
* Experience with virtualisation platforms, particularly *Xen / XCP-ng*
* Firewalling and networking experience, especially *pfSense*
* *Microsoft 365* administration experience
* Linux and Windows systems administration and support
* Strong academic or technical background in IT or networking
* Industry certifications, such as:
* CompTIA (Network+, Server+, etc.)
* Cisco (CCNA or similar)
* Microsoft certifications
* VMware certifications
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £30,000.00-£38,000.00 per year
