NPLQ Lifeguard (Entry Level – No Experience Required)

Job Description

We are looking for a motivated and reliable NPLQ-qualified Lifeguard to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for newly qualified lifeguards seeking their first role within a supportive and professional Ministry of Defense leisure environment.
 
 You will work alongside experienced lifeguards, trainers, and assessors, gaining valuable hands-on experience while ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all pool users.

Here's an idea of what your shift pattern will be:

Mon:– - 10:15 – 18:15 - Full-time (Days)

Tues:– - 09:15 – 17:15 - Full-time (Days)

Weds: - 10:15 – 18:15 - Full-time (Days)

Thurs:  - 08:15 – 17:15 - Full-time (Days)

Fri:       - 06:15 – 13:15 - Full-time (Days)

Sat: NA

Sun: NA

Please note: This role is contracted to 50.2 weeks per year

Key Responsibilities

• Provide supervision of the pool and surrounding areas
• Ensure the safety of all swimmers and pool users
• Enforce pool rules and Normal Operating Procedures (NOP)
• Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies in line with training
• Carry out rescues and administer first aid, CPR, and AED support when required
• Maintain high levels of vigilance using effective scanning techniques
• Support the Emergency Action Plan (EAP) during incidents
• Deliver excellent customer service and assist pool users when needed
• Operate and maintain the booking system, including managing sessions and enquiries
• Assist with reception/front-of-house duties where required
• Check and maintain rescue and safety equipment
• Monitor pool cleanliness and assist with general upkeep of pool area, shower and toilet facilities
• Complete incident and accident reports accurately
• Responsible for opening and/or closing the building where required
• Representing Compass Group UK&I and maintaining a positive brand image
• Complying with Health & Safety regulations
• Work collaboratively as part of a team

Requirements / Qualifications

• Valid NPLQ (National Pool Lifeguard Qualification) certificate
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to remain calm and focused in emergency situations
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn
• Be adaptable and easily embrace changing priorities
• Be a brilliant communicator and easily build relationships
