As a Part-time Physical Therapist, you will complete comprehensive assessments, including range-of-motion, strength, balance, gait, and functional mobility testing, and document findings clearly and accurately in the electronic medical record. You will establish measurable, time-bound goals in partnership with patients and families, adjusting plans of care based on patient progress, clinical judgment, and best-practice guidelines. You will provide therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, neuromuscular re-education, gait training, balance and fall-prevention interventions, and patient and caregiver education tailored to each individual’s needs.
You will collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, speech therapists, case managers, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team to coordinate safe, effective, and efficient care. Communication will be a key part of your daily work, ensuring that care plans are aligned and that patients and families clearly understand therapy goals, expectations, and home exercise programs. You will advocate for your patients by identifying equipment needs, recommending appropriate assistive devices, and participating in discharge planning to ensure continuity of care.
Methodist Health System’s culture emphasizes integrity, compassion, accountability, and inclusiveness, and you will be expected to embody these values in every patient interaction. You will demonstrate respect for the diverse backgrounds and needs of our patients and staff, maintaining professionalism, empathy, and cultural sensitivity. You will adhere to all safety policies, infection control procedures, and regulatory standards, including those set by state and national physical therapy boards and accrediting bodies.
In this part-time role, you will manage a flexible schedule that may include weekday, evening, or weekend shifts based on departmental needs. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate and timely documentation, meeting productivity expectations, and actively participating in clinical rounding, team meetings, and quality-improvement initiatives. You will also support new process implementations and contribute feedback to strengthen patient outcomes and enhance the patient experience.
The ideal candidate will be a licensed Physical Therapist in the state of Texas with strong clinical assessment skills, sound clinical reasoning, and the ability to prioritize and organize caseloads efficiently. You should be comfortable using electronic medical record systems, following established clinical pathways while exercising professional judgment, and educating patients and families in a clear, engaging manner. You will be encouraged to stay current with advances in physical therapy practice through continuing education and professional development.
By joining Methodist Health System as a Part-time Physical Therapist, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of your patients while working within a collaborative, supportive healthcare environment. You will contribute to the organization’s mission to improve and save lives with compassion and high-quality care, while benefiting from a culture that values teamwork, professional growth, and accountability.
