The Opportunity CIB Insights and Analytics (CIB I&A) is a hub of advanced analytics competency, providing high-end analytics services across global businesses and global functions. The work done in CIB I&A forms a vital input towards for strategic planning by the senior management for businesses and enables effective decision making along with addressing unforeseen challenges. Today, the CIB I&A team generates value across the group through a wide variety of data and analytic solutions and related Strategic solutions. CIB I&A has become a one-stop shop for the CIB I&A section of the group’s analytic needs leading the integration of analytics and data-driven decisions not only in traditional areas such as CIB I&A and Commercial Banking but also in new domains such as Regulatory,
Operations, Procurement, Credit & Lending, IT Infrastructure, and Financial Crime Risk. It provides support to various business groups and the job involves data analysis, model and strategy development & implementation, Business Intelligence, reporting and data management and analysis. The team based out of multiple locations across the GSCs (India/China/Mexico/Poland) providing analytics, data & insight support to various CIB I&A, CMB/ GB portfolios. Team’s focus is on using logical thought process and relevant statistical techniques and right tools & techniques & productize scaled solutions to analyse product portfolio metrics and risk behaviour to arrive at value-based optimum decisions.
Role purpose (overall high-level summary of the role)
The person in this role is expected to support the re-design and rationalisation of Analytics, Technology, Architecture and Data across the function. We are seeking a Business Analyst to join the Insights & Analytics (I&A) team within CIB I&A.
This individual will play a key role in bridging business needs and data-driven solutions, using the power of data to identify problems, improve efficiency, and generate actionable insights to support Wholesale business operations. The role will work closely with business stakeholders, data analysts, and technology teams to shape, define, and deliver analytics use cases across the bank.
Governance and Committee Memberships Contribute to relevant governance forums, working groups, and project steering committees as required Support reporting into programme governance, including status updates, risks, issues, and dependencies Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities: Business, Customers and Stakeholders Engage with stakeholders to elicit, analyse, and document business requirements for analytics and data initiatives Translate business needs into clear functional and non-functional requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria Act as the interface between business users and technical teams to ensure alignment on objectives and deliverables Facilitate workshops, stakeholder interviews, and process mapping sessions to understand current and target states Support prioritisation of initiatives based on business value, feasibility, and strategic alignment Present insights, recommendations, and solution options to stakeholders, enabling informed decision-making Data & Analytics Delivery Support Work with data analysts and engineers to ensure data sourcing, transformation, and modelling aligns with business requirements Support the definition and validation of data quality, lineage, and governance requirements Assist in the design of dashboards, reports, and analytics outputs to ensure usability and business relevance Contribute to the development of business cases and benefits realisation tracking for analytics initiatives Perform data analysis and interpretation where required to validate outcomes and support business insight generation Process & Change Analyse and document current business processes and identify opportunities for optimisation through data and analytics Support change management activities including impact assessments, training, and business adoption Ensure solutions are aligned with regulatory, risk, and compliance requirements within the banking environment
Leadership & Delivery
Take ownership of end-to-end business analysis deliverables across assigned initiatives Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Data Science, Engineering, Architecture, and Product Support and mentor junior analysts where required Contribute to wider CIB I&A initiatives and continuous improvement efforts
Functional Knowledge
Strong understanding of business analysis principles, methodologies, and tools (e.g., Agile, Scrum, Waterfall) Experience working on data and analytics initiatives within banking or financial services preferred Ability to interpret and work with complex datasets, translating findings into business insights Familiarity with data platforms, data warehousing, and analytics ecosystems (e.g., cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP) Working knowledge of SQL and data visualisation tools (e.g., Qlik Sense) is advantageous Understanding of data governance, data quality, and regulatory considerations
Experience & Qualifications
5–8 years of relevant experience, preferably within banking or financial services Degree in Business, Finance, Technology, or a related disciplineSkills & Attributes
Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business language Self-motivated, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities Intellectual curiosity and a strong interest in data and analytics Others Contribute to innovation initiatives and the overall analytics strategy within Wholesale Banking Advocate for data-driven decision making across the organisation Stay up to date with emerging trends in data, analytics, and AI Support initiatives leveraging advanced analytics and GenAI capabilities from a business requirements and adoption perspective
