*POSITION TITLE:* *Lead Teacher- Early Education Program*
*SCHEDULE:* *Full-time, 8 hours/5 days per week*
*PROBATIONARY PERIOD: 12 months*
*Summary of Employment: *This position is a 12-month position; work hours are determined by the EEP Director within operating hours of the program. The Lead Teacher plans, organizes and implements a developmentally appropriate classroom of children 2-5 years old. The Teacher must promote the development of each child's spiritual, physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development in a nurturing, Christ‐like environment.
*PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES*:
* Treat matters of school business and student information in a confidential manner
* Be punctual, trustworthy, cooperative, and possess initiative, to work without direct supervision
* Develop and maintain positive relationships with children, parents, and staff
* Establish and enforce rules of classroom behavior for children
* Organize and maintain accurate and complete student records
* Attend and participate in team meetings and faculty meetings with the rest of the EEP staff
* Model conflict resolution by communicating directly with individuals involved and collaborating to develop solutions
* Support and model the Catholic mission and values of MCS through words and actions
* Continue professional growth by attending courses, workshops, asking for feedback and reading professional literature
* Complete required orientation classes within the required timeline and stay current on the Montana Early Childhood Practitioners Registry
* Demonstrate knowledge of developmentally appropriate practice. Demonstrate flexibility and openness to new ideas in childcare practices
* Under the Director’s guidance develop individual professional plans
* Comply with other duties as assigned by the Director, Building Principal or MCS President
*Primary Teaching Duties: *
* Collaborate with classroom staff to plan the weekly theme and daily program based on the developmental needs of enrolled children and in accordance with the policies and philosophy of the Early Education Program.
* Work with classroom staff to maintain child portfolios documenting development progress. Use portfolios to plan curriculum and to communicate with parents.
* Be responsible for the cleanliness, arrangement, appearance and learning environment of the classroom and hallways
* Follow sign in and out procedures including obtaining parent/guardian signatures, initialing if the parent forgets, and checking identification when an unknown or unapproved person arrives to pick up a child.
* Ensure a healthy and safe environment for every child by being alert to hazards, following health and safety regulations and procedures and being a good role model.
* Maintain an inventory of books, classroom supplies and materials
* Provide appropriate supervision for children at all times according to the Montana State Licensing Rules and Regulations
*Parent Responsibilities: *
* Be accessible and available to parents and respond promptly with respect, sensitivity, interest and cooperation to their concerns. Be in close proximity to parents/guardians during drop-off and pick-up times
* Inform EEP Director and Principal of parental concerns and issues
* Support SJS in establishing and sustaining a sense of community through parent involvement and promoting parent retention
* Serve as a resource for families offering articles, parent information boards, newsletters and community contacts
* Assist in planning and leading center events, parent training and educational programs
*Requirements: *The Lead Teacher shall:
* Have a love and willingness to serve children and their families.
* Familiarize yourself with the state licensing regulations regulating Child Care Centers, the operating policies and employee handbook of the Child Care Center and adhere to these regulations and policies.
* Early Childhood professionals are mandated reporters of suspected child abuse and neglect. Confer with supervisees when they express concerns in this area. Report all incidents of suspected child abuse or neglect to the Center Director and if warranted to the Department of Public Health and Human Services at .
* Review and sign Shaken Baby Syndrome Prevention Policy
* In collaboration with EEP Director, cooperate with DPHHS QAD Child Care licensing, MT CACFP and the Child Care Resource and Referral Agency when they are monitoring, conducting on-site training or when they request records in accordance with state policy.
* Complete the annual professional development hours as required by the Montana Child Care Licensing
* Assume an equal share of the joint housekeeping tasks of the center. This includes required cleaning and sanitizing of the areas used by children, and the storage room.
* Report all accidents or injuries involving children, staff, parents or visitors to the EEP Director
* Demonstrate outstanding written and oral communication and organizational skills.
* Must be at least 18 years of age
* Meet federal as well as individual state requirements (i.e., TB test, physical, criminal background checks)
*Qualifications*: The Lead Teacher shall have:
* Child Development Associate credential with at least 12 college credits in Early Childhood Education, or 24 college credits in Early Childhood Education, with plans toward obtaining their degree in Early Childhood Education, Child and Family Studies or related field.
* A minimum of 2 years, verifiable experience in a licensed or registered child care program
* Have or obtain CPR and First Aid Certification within 3 months of employment
* Demonstrate knowledge and ability to lead staff in implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum
* Maintain confidentiality of students. Follow HIPAA guidelines regarding protected health information for children and family information in accordance with school privacy policies.
* Demonstrate the ability to manage multiple priorities and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
* Must be computer literate (MS Office)
* Demonstrate the social skills necessary to relate to a variety of people, remaining positive even under stressful situations.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
