Senior Application Engineer (m/w/d) 100

A leading reinsurance company in Zurich is looking for a Senior Application Engineer.

Your Core Assets

• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or electrical engineering
• Expert software engineering skills. Proven experience developing complex software systems as a software engineer
• Strong core Python software engineering experience
• Have a good understanding and significant experience with projects using relational data models and SQL
• Spark experience is a must.
• Good work ethic and self-starter. Not content to be "task driven". You look out for issues, opportunities and address them when you can, raise them when you can't
• Good analytical skills and the ability to understand complexity and break it down into smaller, achievable steps
• Highly proficient in English (written and verbal)

The software engineering requirement is often mis-interpreted by the data engineering community. Often people consider the number of years of using Python as the number of years of doing software engineering.

We see it in a different way: there are 3 ways of using Python:

• sys admins using python to replace bash or perl,
• data pipeline developers using python to replace stored procedure/db scripts,
• software engineer using python building complex software systems with the same discipline/methodology as using scala/go/C++/java
