Description
We are seeking a
Shopify Technical Lead
to own the architecture, integrations, and governance of our commerce applications. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with leadership, ensuring our Shopify ecosystem is secure, scalable, and seamlessly integrated with ERP, CRM, 3PL, finance, and marketing platforms.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in Shopify development, integration design, and data governance, while also having exposure to campaign tooling, personalization, and advanced automation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and govern integrations between Shopify and enterprise systems (ERP, CRM, 3PL, payment providers).
- Define payload structures, middleware patterns, and error-handling frameworks for stability and scalability.
- Ensure data integrity with reconciliation routines and monitoring dashboards for orders, inventory, pricing, and taxes.
- Implement load testing and monitoring to support large transaction volumes and seasonal peaks.
- Lead security and compliance initiatives (PCI-DSS, GDPR, CCPA, secure API consumption).
- Oversee application lifecycle management, including source control, CI/CD pipelines, regression testing, and version upgrades.
- Serve as the technical counterpart to Marketing, Finance, Operations, and IT, translating requirements into scalable technical solutions.
Required Skills and Qualification:
- 7+ years of experience in technical architecture, application development, or enterprise integrations.
- Deep knowledge of the Shopify platform (APIs, Liquid, Hydrogen, app development).
- Strong experience with integration platforms (CPI, MuleSoft, Boomi, or similar) and API governance.
- Proven expertise in payload design, middleware orchestration, and data validation/reconciliation.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD, regression testing, and lifecycle governance for SaaS applications.
- Solid understanding of compliance frameworks (PCI-DSS, GDPR, CCPA).
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional technical initiatives with business impact.
- Travel requirements: 10-15% domestic
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with campaign tooling and marketing integrations (Klaviyo, HubSpot, Optimizely, personalization engines).
- Exposure to high-volume commerce environments (flash sales, peak seasonal loads).
- Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools (Datadog, New Relic) for performance and API health.
- Understanding of AI/ML applications in commerce, such as personalization, chatbots, and dynamic pricing.
- Experience with finance/tax automation tools (Avalara, Vertex) integrated into commerce flows.
