Travel PCU Stepdown RN

Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking an experienced Travel PCU Stepdown RN to join its nationwide team of healthcare professionals. In this role, you will take short- and long-term travel assignments in Progressive Care/Stepdown units at hospitals across the United States, providing high-quality, evidence-based care to acutely ill and medically complex patients who require close monitoring but are stable enough to be managed outside of the intensive care unit. As a Travel PCU Stepdown RN with Fusion Medical Staffing, you will deliver comprehensive nursing care to a diverse adult patient population with cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and multi-system conditions. You will be responsible for continuous assessment, interpretation of cardiac rhythms and telemetry, administration and titration of IV medications, management of complex equipment and drips per facility policy, and prompt recognition and escalation of changes in patient status. You will collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, case managers, and the broader interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans, while educating patients and families on disease processes, treatments, and discharge plans. You will be expected to adapt quickly to new environments and hospital systems, including learning unit workflows and electronic medical record platforms with minimal orientation. Typical duties include admitting and discharging patients, performing focused and head-to-toe assessments, managing central lines and peripheral IVs, providing wound care, monitoring lab and diagnostic results, enforcing infection prevention protocols, documenting accurately and timely, participating in rapid responses, and supporting safe transitions of care. Strong critical thinking, time management, and communication skills are essential, as you may frequently care for patients with fluctuating acuity and multiple comorbidities.
