Affirm .
Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without any hidden fees or compounding interest. Identity Engineering owns the systems responsible for onboarding all consumers and managing their authentication and verification journeys across our product surfaces. In this role you will need to gain a deep understanding of the business, product, and engineering context, and use that context to own and deliver high‑availability, low‑latency systems on the critical paths for all of our products.
What You'll Do
With guidance from your tech lead and manager, break larger projects into tasks, deliver them in phases, and collaborate with others to ensure timely delivery.
Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics through ideation, articulating technical constraints, and partnering on decisions that consider risks and trade‑offs.
Support operations and availability of your team’s artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating when needed, and participating in on‑call duties.
Contribute to team community by engaging in growth and development activities such as the interview process.

1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
Experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems and proficiency in Python or Kotlin.
Familiarity with distributed system building blocks, and technologies such as AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
Ability to translate a simple problem or business scenario into a solution that interacts with multiple components and write clear, well‑tested, extensible code.
Comfort navigating a large code base, debugging others’ code, and providing constructive feedback through code reviews.
Ownership of personal growth and proactive feedback seeking from team, manager, and stakeholders.
