Statement of duties:
Under the general supervision of a Physician and / or delegation of a Registered Nurse, provides general nursing care for clinic patients following established standards and practices in an outpatient surgery environment.
Duties include:
* Performing general nursing care to patients;
* Obtaining and documenting vital signs, taking leg photographs for patient’s record, and measuring patient legs;
* Performing specialized wound care to patients;
* Preparing equipment and ensuring all patient care areas are clean and stocked with required supplies and materials;
* Greeting patients and preparing them for the scheduled visit as appropriate;
* Assisting physicians as required during treatment and examination of patients;
* Administering prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards;
* Performing pre-operative duties (IV access, lab draw, surgical prepping)
* Monitoring patients during and after procedures;
* Maintaining laboratory equipment;
* Assisting / circulating in interventional cases;
* Maintaining and reviewing patient records;
* Maintaining patient confidentiality;
* Responding to telephone inquiries;
* Coordinating appointments for specialists referrals;
* Assisting with inventory management;
* Assisting with front office tasks, as needed;
* Performing other duties as assigned;
Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such law, regulations and
Professional requirements:
* Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations and procedures to administer patient care
* Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care
* Skill in preparing and maintaining medical records;
* Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical and clinical staff, and the public
* The ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
* The ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures
* The ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Educational requirements:
* Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing;
* The LVN must be licensed as a LVN in the State of Texas and must remain in good standing with the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners;
* Current certification to include: BLS
Physical requirements:
* This position requires good physical and mental health. The LVN may be required to lift, carry, turn, or assist with high-risk patients and be willing and able to work a full-time work schedule with extended hours as needed. The LVN must be able to sit, stand, bend and move intermittently during working hours.
