Systems Administrator I
that supports the stability, security, and performance of the American Fence computer systems and networks and overall IT Infrastructure. This role works closely with the IT Department to manage servers, networks, cloud services, and enterprise systems supporting onsite and remote users throughout the organization. The Junior Systems Administrator assists with system maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting, and implementation of and enhancement of infrastructure solutions while developing deeper technical expertise. Salary range is
$65,000 to $85,000k
annually depending on experience.

Duties & Responsibilities: Assist in the administration, maintenance, and monitoring of Windows servers, virtual environments, and cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS). Assist in managing and performing software and hardware installations and updates. Help to set up and manage user accounts and workstations, control access to the network, and maintain system security. Support Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and identity management systems. Work collaboratively with the IT team to implement and maintain network infrastructure, including switches, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless systems. Monitor system performance, backups, and alerts; proactively identify and resolve issues to ensure system availability and reliability. Participate in patch management, vulnerability remediation, and system hardening efforts to maintain a secure environment. Assist with deployment, configuration, and lifecycle management of servers and enterprise applications. Troubleshoot technical issues from the American Fence operations and corporate teams, providing advanced technical resolution. Support endpoint management solutions (MDM, endpoint protection, patching tools) and ensure compliance across devices. Maintain documentation for systems, configurations, procedures, and disaster recovery plans Collaborate with cross-functional teams on infrastructure-related projects and initiatives. Assist in maintaining backup and disaster recovery systems and participate in recovery testing. Ensure security best practices are followed, including access controls, auditing, and incident response support. Provide occasional after-hours support for maintenance, upgrades, or critical incidents. Continue developing technical skills and certifications relevant to systems administration.
Education:
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience
Experience: 2+ years of experience in IT support, systems administration. Technical background in the listed system administration areas listed. Foundational knowledge of Windows Server environments and virtualization technologies. Experience with Active Directory, Microsoft 365, DNS, and DHCP. Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, firewalls). Familiarity with endpoint management and security tools. Ability to troubleshoot technical issues methodically and effectively. Ability to travel to remote branch operation sites when needed. Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or AWS. Experience with IBM Power Systems Experience with scripting languages for automation tasks (PowerShell preferred, Python) is advantageous. Microsoft Certifications a plus Strong understanding of cybersecurity protocols Experience with DoD DFARS, NIST and CMMC cybersecurity practice standards a plus. Experience with Microsoft 365 suite Strong grasp of general business operations like financials and manufacturing.
