Orthomerica is seeking a Software QA Lead to build and lead quality assurance across a growing portfolio of digital products and platforms. Based in North Orlando with a hybrid schedule of up to three in-office days weekly, this hands-on leadership role will define QA strategy, strengthen validation and compliance, lead QA personnel, and drive team growth and execution.
As the quality leader within our Advanced Technology organization, you will partner with Software Development, Product Management, Regulatory, Operations, and cross-functional teams to embed quality throughout the software development lifecycle and ensure systems are reliable, audit-ready, and aligned with regulated medical-device standards.
Our software ecosystem includes SaaS and mobile applications, 3D scanning technologies, internal manufacturing systems, ERP/CRM integrations, and cloud infrastructure across Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services.
This role is ideal for a QA leader who wants to build scalable processes, elevate engineering quality, and make a direct impact on clinical workflows, manufacturing accuracy, and business operations.
*What You’ll Do*
* Own and evolve the QA strategy across software platforms, including SaaS, mobile, scanning technologies, and production systems.
* Lead, coach, and develop QA personnel while scaling the function to meet business growth.
* Design and drive test automation strategy, frameworks, and coverage goals for regression, integration, and end-to-end testing.
* Personally validate high-risk changes and provide technical leadership on complex testing challenges.
* Lead software verification and validation activities in support of FDA, ISO 13485, and related compliance requirements.
* Develop and maintain validation plans, protocols, traceability matrices, and summary reports that are audit-ready.
* Apply risk-based testing methods informed by product risk, FMEA, hazard analysis, and data-integrity considerations.
* Partner with engineering and technical leadership to shift quality earlier in the SDLC through better requirements review, design review, static analysis, and test discipline.
* Own the defect lifecycle, including severity definitions, escalation paths, and quality metrics.
* Help implement and maintain QA tooling, test environments, CI/CD test integration, and release-readiness standards.
* Support UAT coordination, change-control activities, and post-release quality review.
*What We’re Looking For*
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
* 5+ years of experience in software quality assurance, including 2+ years in a formal people-management role.
* Demonstrated success building or materially improving test automation programs.
* Experience with formal software verification and validation processes, including validation protocols and traceability documentation.
* Strong understanding of Agile software development and how QA integrates across modern SDLC practices.
* Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language such as Python, JavaScript, or C# for automated testing.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate quality risks and metrics to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
*Preferred Experience*
* Experience in regulated environments such as FDA, ISO 13485, 21 CFR Part 11, GxP, or similar.
* Experience with tools and frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or Appium.
* Experience testing mobile applications across iOS and Android.
* Familiarity with CI/CD-integrated testing using tools such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or Jenkins.
* Experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter, k6, or Locust.
* Exposure to cloud-based systems and environments on Azure and AWS.
* Familiarity with 3D visualization, scanning, CAD/CAM, or manufacturing-related software.
* Certifications such as ISTQB Advanced Level or CSQE.
