O’Dell Law Group, APC is a rapidly growing law firm, seeking a hard-working labor & employment senior associate to join our team. Our office is located in San Juan Capistrano, but we offer remote/hybrid work flexibility. We are looking for candidates who have experience handling employment-related matters on behalf of companies.
The successful candidate will manage a diverse portfolio of employment and labor law matters, ranging from high-stakes class action and PAGA defense for violations of the labor code to individual claims under the FEHA, the labor code, and other employment statutes (California and Federal), as well as at common law, including wrongful termination, discrimination, and harassment. You will be responsible for navigating the complexities of both state and federal labor laws, providing aggressive litigation defense while simultaneously offering strategic "advice and counsel" to help clients mitigate risk before litigation arises.
*Detailed Responsibilities*
* Lead investigations
* Timely respond to clients and team
* Handle all aspects of discovery, including drafting/propounding and responding
* Analyze claims and allegations and develop strategy for responding/defending
* Handle all pleading and motion practice, including removal to federal court, motion to compel arbitration, motion for summary judgment, and any other motion as may arise
* Attend court hearings
* Take and defend depositions
* Provide effective and smart advice and counsel to clients
* In other words, you will be responsible for all case management, from inception of matter through settlement, trial, arbitration, and appeal
*Required Skills & Qualifications*
* Experience: 5+ years of dedicated experience in California Labor & Employment law.
* California Bar: Must be an active member in good standing with the State Bar of California.
* Must be able to issue spot, analyze, and advocate
* Must possess strong writing skills
* Must be professional and enjoy working in a team atmosphere
