Buyer – Logistics & Procurement
Location: Vaudreuil-Dorion
Job Summary
Reporting to the Planning and Purchasing Manager, the Buyer – Logistics & Procurement is responsible for sourcing and purchasing goods, materials, and services while coordinating logistics activities to support operational needs. This role ensures optimal balance between cost, quality, and delivery performance, while maintaining continuity of supply and efficient transportation flow.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Supply Management
- Issue purchase orders, validate order acknowledgements, and coordinate material pickups
- Expedite, reschedule, or cancel orders in response to changing demand to align supply with production needs
- Analyze inventory levels and demand for key (“A”) items and trigger replenishment accordingly
- Evaluate supplier proposals based on cost, quality, delivery, and service levels to determine best sourcing decisions
Logistics & Transportation
- Track shipments, follow up on delays, and resolve transportation issues proactively
- Manage freight arrangements and support cost optimization initiatives
- Ensure proper documentation and compliance with shipping requirements and Incoterms
- Maintain strong relationships with logistics providers and negotiate when required
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Planning and Customer Service teams to ensure material availability aligned with production and customer demand
- Support continuous alignment between supply, inventory, and production schedules
Systems & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date information in the ERP system, including supplier data, pricing, and cross-references
- Monitor and maintain inventory at target levels and report on variances
- Support the development and improvement of procurement and logistics processes and policies
- Ensure integrity of planning and purchasing data within systems
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in purchasing, material planning, or supply chain within a manufacturing environment
- Experience working with an ERP system (JDE an asset)
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (analysis, reporting, data management)
- College diploma or equivalent experience
- Bilingual (English & French)
- Experience in metal manufacturing is an asset
