Piedmont Healthcare is seeking an Ultrasound Tech Student, PRN to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team within our statewide, non-profit healthcare system. In this role, you will work under the direct supervision of registered sonographers and supervising physicians to provide safe, high-quality diagnostic ultrasound services to patients in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings. You will assist with preparing exam rooms and patients, performing basic and progressively more complex ultrasound exams according to departmental protocols and school guidelines, and documenting findings in the electronic medical record.
As an Ultrasound Tech Student, PRN, you will learn to operate and care for ultrasound equipment, apply proper patient positioning and imaging techniques, and follow standardized scanning protocols for abdominal, obstetric/gynecologic, vascular, and other studies as appropriate to your level of training. You will help ensure patient comfort and safety, verify patient identity and exam orders, obtain relevant clinical histories, and communicate in a professional and compassionate manner with patients, families, and the care team. Under supervision, you may participate in image review and quality assurance activities, recognizing basic normal and abnormal findings and escalating concerns to a registered sonographer or radiologist.
This position is PRN (as needed) and is designed to complement your formal education by providing hands-on clinical experience in a collaborative, patient-centered environment. You will be expected to demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and a strong commitment to learning, while adhering to Piedmont Healthcare and departmental policies, infection prevention standards, and regulatory requirements. You will actively participate in ongoing training, competency assessments, and feedback sessions to support your professional growth and preparation for future certification and employment as an ultrasound technologist.
At Piedmont Healthcare, you will be part of a culture that values respect, innovation, teamwork, and inclusion. You will work alongside experienced sonographers, nurses, and physicians who are dedicated to mentoring students and supporting their development. This opportunity will allow you to strengthen your clinical skills, refine your patient interaction and communication abilities, and gain exposure to a broad mix of patient populations and clinical scenarios. If you are a motivated ultrasound student who is passionate about patient-centered care and eager to grow in a supportive, high-quality healthcare system, we encourage you to apply for this PRN opportunity with Piedmont Healthcare.
