Overview Our client is a provider of automated, cloud‑based software for financial operations and seeks an accomplished Data Engineer.
Candidate must be authorized to work in the USA without requiring sponsorship.
Location: Remote‑Hybrid (San Jose, CA).
Duration: 12+ months (full‑time).
Important Items:
Work arrangement: Onsite, 5 days per week (may require occasional after‑hours, evenings, or weekends).
Required Skills
BS/BA in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, or a related technical field (or equivalent work experience).
2+ years of experience in data engineering, BI, or analytics role.
1+ year of experience working in financial services and/or SaaS companies.
Experience in dbt and modern data modeling best practices.
Version control via Git.
Experience working in startup environments is a plus.
Strong proficiency in SQL, with experience in multiple SQL dialects (Redshift, Snowflake, Trino/Iceberg).
Deep understanding of dbt, including model development, macros, and Jinja templating.
Experience with BI tools, such as Tableau, and a working knowledge of data source construction.
Strong stakeholder communication skills.
Experience refactoring SQL and dbt models to support infrastructure migrations.
Job Responsibilities
Support the migration of dbt models from Redshift and Snowflake to Trino (Iceberg) ensuring compatibility, performance, and best practices.
Fix Redshift and Snowflake SQL syntax to Trino syntax in dbt models.
Version control dbt models via Git.
Refactor and optimize data models to align with Iceberg best practices.
Work with Tableau assets to ensure data sources align with new infrastructure.
Collaborate with workbook owners to validate and test the impact of migration work.
Engage in daily stand‑ups and work with engineers to execute migration priorities efficiently.
Collaborate with engineering and analytics teams to ensure seamless model transitions and maintain quality standards.
