Job Introduction Finance Enablers is a key team within Global Finance Technology, supporting the GRS Finance space and the IT platform behind crucial processes such as financial book close and analytical reporting. We support multi-dimensional data cubes encompassing 9TB and 4.4 billion rows of data, and over 950 end users. The Finance Enablers team is looking to add a dynamic Senior Data Engineer to the team. This candidate will play a critical role in both maintaining and modernizing GRS financial data and integrating it with broader Liberty Mutual platforms. Key skillsets include strong SQL expertise, experience with multi-dimensional data and technologies such as SSAS, SSRS, and SQL Server, cross‑team collaboration, and the ability to translate business requirements into effective data solutions. Experience with AWS is highly preferred, as the team will be transitioning to a modernized tech stack including Snowflake, PostgreSQL, Power BI, Python, Erwin, and IDMC. The ideal candidate is well‑rounded in Data Engineering concepts and comfortable working with both Microsoft SSAS and modern AWS platforms. Responsibilities will include supporting and optimizing existing multi-dimensional data cubes, collaborating with Product Owners and Business users to design and deliver solutions, and contributing to the platform’s modernization under the North Star Architecture initiative. We are seeking a team member who is self‑motivated, willing to learn and upskill as needed, and has a willingness to accept peer review and mentor others.
About The Job
Collaborates with team, product owners, and business users to maintain and enhance a critical data platform used for both operational and analytical purposes.
Designs, builds, and supports data ETL/ELT pipelines using tools such as SSIS and IDMC.
Utilizes data modeling and governance to conceptualize and implement data transformations and integrations necessary to meet business needs.
Supports programmatic elements within system, such as stored procedures and script logic.
Leverages data for analytics and reporting.
Identifies and implements process improvements.
Builds strong knowledge of technology and mentors others.
Follows best practices for Production support.
Makes recommendations for how to improve data.
Challenges status quo and is focused on continuous improvement.
Leverages generative AI tools to work efficiently.
Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in technical or business discipline or equivalent experience, technical degree preferred.
Minimum 5+ years of data engineering experience.
Extensive SQL experience (developing and optimizing complex queries).
Extensive experience building data pipelines (ETL/ELT).
Extensive experience with both relational (SQL Server, Postgres) and dimensional data (SSAS, Snowflake).
Experience with relational and dimensional data modeling using industry standard methodologies and tools (Erwin, UML).
Experience utilizing data governance (Informatica IDMC).
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
Experience developing and deploying DDL.
Experience building automation into data modeling and deployments.
Experience working with financial data preferred.
Experience with insurance industry preferred.
Must be proactive and self-driven, demonstrate initiative and be a logical thinker.
Strong leadership, communication, collaboration skills with a track record of taking solution ownership.

The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
