About the RoleWe are excited to invite a dedicated One to One Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic staff team. This full-time position is available Monday to Friday, from 08:30 to 16:30 , during term time only. While primarily based at one site, you may also support students at local PE venues and, eventually, in college settings.
Your ResponsibilitiesAs a key member of our educational team, you will:
- Collaborate with the Headteacher and class teachers to align with our therapeutic approach.
- Support pupils in learning effectively, both individually and in group settings by:
- Clarifying and explaining instructions.
- Ensuring access to necessary equipment and materials.
- Motivating and encouraging pupils through personalized attention and support.
- Assisting in areas such as speech and language, reading, spelling, numeracy, and handwriting.
- Using praise and constructive feedback to keep pupils engaged and focused.
- Liaise with teachers, SENCO, and other professionals regarding Individual Personal Education Plans (PEPs).
- Provide additional nurture and support as requested by the class teacher or SENCO.
- Implement agreed behavior management strategies consistently.
- Establish supportive relationships with pupils to promote acceptance and inclusion.
- Monitor and adapt learning activities to meet intended outcomes.
To thrive in this role, you should have:
- A minimum qualification of GCSE A-C or equivalent in Maths and English .
- A Level 3 or above Teaching Assistant qualification.
- An understanding of the challenges faced by students with Emotional, Behavioural, or Social needs.
- The ability to work collaboratively as part of a close-knit team.
- Desirable: Experience in a specialist educational environment.
This position is a 12-month fixed-term contract , offering a supportive and engaging work environment in Horsham, West Sussex .
