Location:

The role is embedded with a Hyperscaler Data Center client, dedicating 32–36 hours per week to deliver low‑GHG structural solutions and support the client’s net‑zero strategy.
Responsibilities
Lead the comprehensive updating of construction specifications to mandate and enable low‑GHG solutions.
Develop a data‑driven roadmap for decarbonizing equipment specifications using LCA data and supplier‑specific EPDs.
Leverage global research and LCA hotspots in heavy construction (e.g., concrete, steel) to prioritize specification updates.
Establish and track specification adoption metrics to quantify GHG performance against updated standards.
Facilitate Sustainability Page Turns—a collaborative review process—to localize requirements, ensure technical feasibility, and optimize carbon considerations.
Assess project constraints, market feasibility, and regional material availability to align sustainability goals with structural requirements.
Manage the end‑to‑end specification drafting process, technical assistance memos, and cross‑functional communication.
Serve as an embedded consultant, bridging high‑level net‑zero goals with construction execution.
Oversee multiple workstreams at varying stages of specification development and implementation.
Build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, translating complex carbon data into actionable engineering requirements.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering, Architecture, Sustainability, or Environmental Science; Master’s degree preferred.
5–10 years of relevant experience in structural engineering, embodied carbon, or sustainability within large‑scale construction (data center experience a strong plus).
Direct experience in structural and/or foundation systems design with a focus on reducing carbon footprints in concrete and steel.
Familiarity with LCA software (e.g., One Click LCA, Tally) and ability to interpret EPDs.
Knowledge of CSI specification format.
Working knowledge of environmental regulations related to construction sites (air, water, waste).
Strong analytical and data interpretation skills with clear communication to technical and non‑technical audiences.
Excellent project management skills and experience managing cross‑functional stakeholder groups.
Professional Engineer (PE) licensure preferred.
