Senior Advanced Mechanical Design Engineer – Honeywell As a Senior Advanced Mechanical Design Engineer at Honeywell, you will provide technical expertise and support in the materials and process engineering of cast products. You will work as part of a highly engaged Materials Engineering team, collaborating across Honeywell Aerospace engineering teams to create solutions that meet evolving customer needs. You will participate in all phases of product development and act as a technical point of contact for less experienced engineers.
You will report directly to the Senior Engineering Manager and work out of our Tempe, AZ location on a hybrid schedule.
This role supports new and existing cast products, including aerospace gas turbine engines used for propulsion and auxiliary power. Responsibilities include support for materials and processes involved in the design and manufacture of cast parts, and regular interaction with suppliers to help resolve issues. The position may require lifting up to 35 pounds single lift.
Responsibilities
Work between suppliers and Honeywell Engineering, Quality, Supplier Development Engineers (SDE), and Integrated Supply Chain (ISC).
Troubleshoot material and process issues and provide technical solutions for rapid problem solving.
Provide internal engineering support for casting development, drawing reviews, and process improvements.

Qualifications Must Have
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics.
4 or more years of experience in materials/process engineering in the casting industry.
4 or more years of experience with nickel, aluminum, steel, and/or titanium aerospace cast alloys.
We Value
Bachelor’s Degree with specialization in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Metallurgy, Aerospace Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
Advanced degree in engineering or related field.
Understanding and hands‑on experience in casting (investment/sand casting production processes are a plus).
Familiarity with industrial materials and processing specifications.
Familiarity with NADCAP and industry standards, requirements and approvals.
Capability to assess new suppliers and determine their strengths and weaknesses.
Experience conducting casting supplier audits (investment castings and sand casting audits are a plus).
Experience working with and developing suppliers.
Experience with Design Engineering.
Understanding of engineering drawings and requirements.
Experience in Six Sigma, Lean and other process improvement tools.
