About Our SchoolsNorth Lakes Children's Services is a well-established local provider of residential care and education for boys aged 7-18. We focus on enhancing the resilience, self-esteem, and abilities of all the young people we work with. Our school proudly holds the Accredited SILVER Award as an Attachment and Trauma Sensitive School and received an Outstanding Ofsted inspection in 2014.
Your Role and ResponsibilitiesAs a School Caretaker, you will play a vital role in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment. Your responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining clean, safe, and secure school premises, including buildings and grounds.
- Performing cleaning, handy person activities, routine maintenance, and minor repairs.
- Supervising school cleaning staff and promoting health and safety.
- Carrying out porterage duties, such as moving furniture and equipment.
- Reporting any maintenance issues to the Head Teacher.
- Arranging larger repairs and obtaining quotes from contractors.
- Conducting daily cleaning and ad-hoc duties, including litter picking.
- Ensuring the security of the school premises as the main key holder.
- Performing regular health and safety checks and maintaining safety equipment.
To thrive in this role, you should have:
- Previous caretaking experience within a school environment.
- Experience in building maintenance and security systems.
- A solid understanding of health and safety regulations.
- Basic DIY skills and good interpersonal abilities.
- Literacy and numeracy skills.
- A full driving license and access to your own car.
- A willingness to travel between both school sites.
