LifeBridge Health is a regional healthcare organization in Maryland providing a comprehensive continuum of care, including hospitals, specialty centers, and community health-related operations. Guided by a culture of collaboration, innovation, and community engagement, we are dedicated to compassionate patient care and continuous improvement in healthcare delivery. As a Respiratory Therapist within our Healthcare & Medical Services department, you will be an integral member of an interdisciplinary care team, supporting patients with acute and chronic cardiopulmonary conditions across a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings. In this role, you will assess, plan, and deliver respiratory care therapies in accordance with physician orders, established protocols, and evidence-based practice. You will perform comprehensive respiratory assessments, including evaluation of breath sounds, work of breathing, oxygenation, ventilation status, and response to therapy. You will initiate, manage, and adjust oxygen therapy, aerosolized medication treatments, bronchial hygiene therapies, and noninvasive and invasive ventilatory support for neonates, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients as appropriate to your assigned area and competencies. You will be responsible for setting up, operating, monitoring, and troubleshooting a broad range of respiratory care equipment, including mechanical ventilators, BiPAP/CPAP devices, high-flow nasal cannula systems, and oxygen delivery devices. You will interpret arterial blood gases and related diagnostic tests in collaboration with the healthcare team, making timely recommendations for changes to ventilator settings and therapy plans based on clinical data and patient response. You will participate in rapid response and code blue events, providing airway management, bag-valve-mask ventilation, and ventilator support as part of a coordinated resuscitation effort. The Respiratory Therapist will collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, case management, rehabilitation, and other allied health professionals to develop and implement individualized plans of care that optimize pulmonary function, patient comfort, and safety. You will provide patient and family education on respiratory conditions, inhaler technique, equipment use, airway clearance strategies, smoking cessation, and home-care regimens to support successful transitions of care and promote long-term respiratory health in our diverse communities. You will maintain accurate, timely, and thorough documentation of assessments, interventions, patient responses, and education in the electronic medical record, adhering to department policies, regulatory requirements, and professional practice standards. You will contribute to quality improvement initiatives, evidence-based practice projects, and clinical protocol development that support LifeBridge Health’s commitment to innovation and continuous improvement in healthcare delivery. This position requires strong clinical judgment, effective communication skills, and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple patients in a fast-paced environment. You will demonstrate professionalism, cultural sensitivity, and a compassionate approach to care while supporting our mission to improve health and promote well-being in the communities we serve. As part of the LifeBridge Health team, you will have access to ongoing professional development, educational opportunities, and clear pathways for career advancement within respiratory care and related clinical specialties. You will be encouraged to participate in continuing education, specialty certifications, precepting of students and new team members, and interprofessional learning activities that foster growth and collaboration. Candidates should bring a solid foundation in cardiopulmonary anatomy and physiology, respiratory care modalities, and current best practices in the management of conditions such as COPD, asthma, pneumonia, ARDS, neuromuscular disorders, and post-operative pulmonary complications. A commitment to safe practice, infection prevention, equipment maintenance, and adherence to all applicable regulatory and accreditation standards is essential. By joining LifeBridge Health as a Respiratory Therapist, you will help shape and deliver high-quality respiratory care for patients and families while contributing to a supportive, team-oriented, and innovative healthcare environment.
