*Job Description:*
*ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*
* Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques and facility policies and procedures.
* Prepares equipment and aids physician during treatments and examinations of residents.
* Observes residents, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisor, physician and family of resident’s condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.
* Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess condition of resident.
* Assigns duties and coordinates nursing services on the resident unit to ensure resident needs are met in accordance with instructions of Physician, federal and state regulations and facility procedures.
* Consults with Shift Supervisor on nursing problems and interpretation of facility policies to insure resident needs are met.
* Report all complaints or unusual problems to supervisor. Assist with completion of facility complaint report.
* Participates in orientation and training and evaluating of nursing personnel.
* Evaluates nursing activities to ensure resident care, staff relations, and efficiency of service.
* Assigns duties and coordinates nursing service on the resident unit.
* Observes nursing care and visits residents to ensure that nursing care is carried out as directed, and treatment administered in accordance with Physician's instructions.
* Assumes responsibility and maintains records for unit narcotics.
* Inspects resident rooms and the unit for cleanliness and comfort.
* Responsible to document admissions, discharges, transfers and incident reports per facility policies and procedures.
* Participate in the care plan process, completes nursing assessments and resident care plans accurately and timely on assigned residents.
* Completes special projects and audits at the direction of the Supervisor, CCC, or Director of Nursing.
* Maintain all educational requirements for the State of Michigan to keep license current. Attend facility in services and ward conferences as assigned.
* Maintain resident confidentiality; treat residents with kindness, dignity and respect; know and comply with all Resident's Rights rules; and promptly report all resident accidents and injuries to charge nurse.
* Must have regular and attendance.
* All other duties as assigned.
