Job Summary Under limited supervision, the engineers are responsible for performing a variety of activities on the company's internal and cloud networks, ensuring optimal performance and security. This role requires expertise in configuration management, system administration, security administration, network administration, and both development and production system implementations. The engineers will respond to issues related to the environment, hardware, systems, and software, implementing resolutions across various technology areas. This position supports multiple systems simultaneously and provides leadership for large project efforts. Additionally, the engineer will be involved in activities related to change management, outage management, and project management, delivering technical expertise around everything networking.
Key Responsibilities
Network/Cloud Architecture & Automation: Apply modern network architecture principles, methodologies, tools, and systemic automation processes to support the launch of new business capabilities.
Cloud Platform Expertise: Knowledge of Azure and Google Cloud, specifically in VPC design, VNet, load balancers and Transit Gateway.
Project Leadership: Provide leadership and support for large‑scale project efforts, ensuring successful project delivery.
Change & Outage Management: Lead activities related to change management and outage management, ensuring minimal disruption to network services.
Network Design & Deployment: Design and deploy functional networks, including Cloud, LAN, WLAN, and WAN, ensuring robust and scalable solutions.
Documentation: Create and maintain detailed technical documentation that supports network operations and project implementations.
Issue Resolution: Respond to and resolve issues related to hardware, systems, and software across different technological areas.
Configuration & Administration: Manage configuration, system, security, and network administration tasks to ensure efficient network operations.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Network Operating Systems: Solid understanding and experience with Cisco IOS, IOS‑XE, and ACI.
Network Infrastructure: Expertise in routing and switching.
Software‑Defined Networking: Familiarity with SDN concepts, including API, automation, network controller, and process orchestrator.
Programming & Automation: Knowledge of Python, Go, Perl, and Ansible.
Data Management & Analytics: Experience with databases, Hadoop, Splunk, and DynaTrace.
Network Security: Proficient in TACACS, Radius, MFA.
Web Services: Understanding of RESTful, XML, and JSON.
Troubleshooting Skills: Strong troubleshooting skills to quickly diagnose and resolve network‑related issues for critical business outages.
Certifications: CCNA, CCNP, CCDP, PCNE are a plus.
Independent & Collaborative Work: Ability to work independently and collaboratively within teams.
Organizational & Mentoring Skills: Strong organizational skills and ability to mentor junior engineers.

Communication: Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with stakeholders across all levels to present complex designs and associated risk.
Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing technologies and processes, continuously updating skills to meet evolving business needs.
Minimum Qualifications Sr Network Engineer:
Bachelor's degree in IT‑related engineering, computer science, information systems or related field.
Five (5) years of work experience in an engineering or information technology environment. A related advanced degree may offset the experience requirements.
Network Engineer Advisor:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
Five (5) years of related communications or computer systems experience, including three (3) years of communications, planning, development, or engineering.
Knowledge of computer network architectures and digital logic design. Demonstrate ability to work with broadly defined goals. Strong organization, analytical, planning, and communication skills.
Job Conditions Minimal travel.
Domicile Information This position is eligible for telecommuting and may be located anywhere within the United States excluding AK, HI and U.S. territories. Depending on your location, employees who live within a 50‑mile radius of a FedEx office location may be required to work at a FedEx Campus several times per week. Preferred location is Collierville, TN.
