About AKIVA AKIVA is an AI-native engineering firm specializing in enterprise services, domain-specific solutions, and high-performance infrastructure from strategy through deployment. We build innovative systems that drive measurable results for commercial enterprises and government agencies. AKIVA is a certified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB).
Position Overview AKIVA is seeking Data Analysts to support a multi-year public-sector data modernization program. In this role you will coordinate the inventory and profiling of source data, partner with business and technical stakeholders to capture requirements, develop data models and design artifacts, and produce the documentation, reports, and dashboards that guide conversion and downstream analytics. You will work alongside ETL developers, conversion specialists, and the client business community to ensure that migrated and modernized data supports operational and analytical needs. AKIVA-provided AI-assisted data-profiling, documentation, and reporting tools may be used to accelerate delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate the identification and inventory of data sources across legacy systems, third parties, and operational platforms
Perform data profiling and discovery — distributions, completeness, uniqueness, referential integrity, and anomaly detection
Capture and document business requirements, business rules, data-quality rules, and reporting needs
Develop and maintain data models and data-design artifacts — logical models, physical models, and entity-relationship diagrams
Produce documentation — data dictionaries, source-to-target mappings, business glossaries, and requirements artifacts
Design and build reports and dashboards that support operational users, program managers, and executive leadership
Partner with ETL developers and data conversion specialists to translate requirements into build-ready specifications
Support user-acceptance testing by defining test data, expected outcomes, and validation criteria
Collaborate with client stakeholders to resolve data-quality issues and clarify business rules
Participate in Scrum ceremonies (sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives)
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Analytics, or related field — or equivalent experience
2+ years of data migration experience that includes data cleaning and the production of reports and dashboards
2+ years of SQL experience working with relational databases
Strong requirements‑elicitation, analytical, and documentation skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work directly with business stakeholders
Ability to work effectively in a fully remote environment
Must be authorized to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency in Python or R for data analysis, profiling, or automation
Hands‑on experience with Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or equivalent visualization platforms
Experience on full‑scale data migrations from legacy systems to cloud, ERP, or CRM platforms
Prior experience embedded on a development or modernization team as the dedicated data analyst
Experience working on Agile / Scrum delivery teams
Experience supporting public‑sector data modernization initiatives
Familiarity with AI‑assisted data‑profiling, documentation, and reporting tools
