Your RoleAs our SENCO, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our students. Your responsibilities will include:
- Determining the strategic development of SEN policy and provision within the school.
- Designing and delivering targeted interventions to close attainment gaps.
- Assessing and monitoring pupil progress in line with their EHCPs.
- Holding annual reviews and acting as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead.
- Liaising with the Headteacher, Tutors, class teachers, and parents to support individual learning plans.
- Maintaining accurate records and providing support to colleagues in effective teaching and behavior management.
- Coordinating provision for pupils with SEN or disabilities and ensuring effective communication with external agencies.
- Promoting inclusion in the school community and facilitating smooth transitions for pupils.
- Teaching commitment (50/50) with secondary teaching experience, preferably in Science.
To thrive in this role, you should have:
- Qualified Teacher Status and the National Award for SEN Coordination (or a willingness to complete the new NPQ for SENCOs).
- Previous experience in school self-evaluation and development planning.
- A background in teaching within an autism/SEMH school.
- Experience in delivering training and leading INSET.
- Sound knowledge of the SEND Code of Conduct.
- A commitment to professional development and a passion for learning.
