Why Choose ISP School Whitstable?

At ISP School Whitstable, we are more than just an educational institution; we are a nurturing community dedicated to supporting children and young people (CYP) with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Our holistic approach ensures that every child receives tailored support, enabling them to thrive.

We are on the lookout for an inspirational leader with a passion for Special Educational Needs (SEN). Whether you're stepping into senior leadership from a middle position or are an experienced Deputy Headteacher seeking a fresh challenge, we want to hear from you!

About Us

ISP School Whitstable specializes in providing education for Key Stage 2 children aged 7-11 with SEMH difficulties and other complex needs. With a maximum of 24 children, we create a safe and nurturing environment where well-trained staff support each child's development through a therapeutic approach.

As part of the Polaris Community, we have been transforming the lives of children for over 30 years, with over 15 SEN schools across the UK working collaboratively to offer tailored, diverse, and appropriate education.

Your Role

As our Deputy Headteacher with curriculum responsibility, you will:

  • Ensure high-quality teaching and learning across the school, focusing on inclusion and differentiated instruction for SEND students.
  • Assess, monitor, record, and report on the learning needs, progress, and achievements of pupils, collaborating closely with the SENCo.
  • Lead whole-school strategic planning and the ongoing development of the curriculum.
  • Provide curriculum training for staff during training sessions and INSET, while valuing your own and others' professional development.
What We're Looking For
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with experience in SEND.
  • Proven experience in delivering a high-quality curriculum that supports young people with SEND.
  • Experience in leading and managing teams with a compassionate and therapeutic approach.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work inclusively with staff, students, and families.
  • A proactive and adaptable attitude, capable of developing systems and processes aligned with our school's values and ethos.
What We Offer
  • A unique opportunity to shape curriculum development and SEND provision.
  • A supportive and collaborative leadership team.
  • Professional development opportunities within the Polaris Community.
  • The chance to make a real difference in the lives of children with complex needs.

Are you ready to join a supportive and nurturing community that works together to achieve the very best outcomes for its children? If so, we could be the perfect place for you to develop your career and make a real impact!
