Join the OMIA team as an Insurance Product Research & Development Analyst .
The Insurance Product Research & Development Analyst will report to, and work closely with, our Manager of Product Research & Development. The role requires collaboration with other colleagues and stakeholders on a variety of projects and tasks with a special focus on the OMIA policy coverage wording library and related business documents and publications.
Experience
- Approximately 7+ years’ experience in the P&C insurance industry in either underwriting, claims adjusting, risk assessment, or on the broker/agent side.
- Experience with policy/contract wordings, customer service (internal & external), and project management.

- Effectively use Microsoft Office 365 products at an intermediate level (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, Forms).
Responsibilities
In this role, your responsibilities would include, but are not limited to:
- Working on various projects related to all lines of insurance in the P&C industry (with a special focus on farm and commercial risk exposures),
- Creating, developing, and maintaining insurance forms, wordings, and accompanying risk selection/underwriting guidelines or other publications for use which impact OMIA member and stakeholder organizations,
- Conducting market research and analysis on industry trends,
- Assisting member companies to assess risk appetites, business needs, and product offerings,
- Providing customer service (via all communication methods) and acting as a liaison with members and other various stakeholders,
- Interacting with various departments internally and externally such as: Underwriting, Sales, Marketing, Claims professionals, Loss Prevention, Distributors, Policy administration systems vendors, reinsurers, and more,
- Staying current on industry trends to help provide information, tools, and/or services to Member companies,
- Communicating and responding efficiently and effectively to member company and stakeholder inquiries and providing support daily or as needed.
Education
In considering candidates, the following educational background or equivalent employment experience will be of benefit.
- Post secondary education (College Diploma or University Degree)
- Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) Designation
- FCIP
- Commercial Insurance Certificate (Insurance Institute of Canada)
- Canadian Risk Management Certificate
Environment & Travel
- General Office, hybrid working environment
- Some travel will be required (up to 5 days annually). Occasional overnight travel may be required.
