Job Purpose
The Production Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and controlling manufacturing operations to ensure the efficient production of high‑quality ductwork and ventilation products. The role ensures output targets, quality standards, cost efficiencies, and health & safety requirements are consistently met while leading and developing production teams.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Operations
- Plan, organise, and oversee daily, weekly, and long‑term production schedules to meet customer demand and project deadlines.
- Ensure efficient workflow across fabrication, assembly, insulation, and finishing operations.
- Monitor production outputs, costs, scrap, rework, and labour efficiency to achieve KPIs.
- Coordinate closely with Design, Engineering, Procurement, and Logistics to ensure smooth project execution.
- Lead, motivate, and develop production supervisors, team leaders, and shop‑floor employees.
- Manage staffing levels, shift patterns, overtime, and skills coverage.
- Conduct performance reviews, absence management, and disciplinary processes where required.
- Promote a strong culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure full compliance with health & safety legislation, company policies, and risk assessments.
- Ensure safe operation of machinery, equipment, and manual handling processes.
- Support investment in new machinery, automation, and tooling where appropriate.
- Analyse production data and implement improvements to reduce waste and downtime.
Skills & Experience Required
Essential
- Proven experience as a Production Manager or Senior Production Supervisor in a manufacturing environment (ductwork, HVAC, sheet metal, steel fabrication, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, production planning, and workflow management.
- Experience managing teams in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
- Strong problem‑solving, organisational, and leadership skills.
- Solid understanding of health & safety requirements within manufacturing.
- Experience within ductwork or ventilation manufacturing.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing / Continuous Improvement methodologies.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications. xcfaprz
