Financial Controller

Our client in the construction industry has an opportunity for a Financial Controller with 2/3 years experience.

Financial Controller with 2/3 years experience preferably in a construction environment.

Manage the accounts team of 5 in the department.

Very strong people management skills required.

• Prepare monthly management accounts including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow and variance analysis.
  
• Manage month‑end and year‑end close processes.
  
• Produce financial reports and commentary for senior management.
  
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting and monitor performance against budget.
  
• Maintain robust financial controls and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
  
• Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors and professional bodies.
  
• Ensure compliance with VAT, PAYE and Corporation Tax obligations.
  
• Manage cash flow, forecasts and working capital.
  
• Improve financial systems, processes and reporting efficiencies.
  
• Provide financial analysis and ad hoc reporting to support business decisions.
  

• 
  
• Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent).
  
• 2–3 years’ post‑qualification experience.
  

• 
  
• Proven experience preparing management accounts.
  
• Strong technical accounting knowledge.
  
• Excellent Excel skills.
  
• Experience using ERP/accounting systems (Business Central advantageous).
  
• High attention to detail with strong analytical skills.
  

• 
  
• Experience in an SME or growing business.

Basic Salary 70K to 95K
