Network Engineer

Work location: Dublin, Ireland (on site)

Contract type: 12-month contract with potential for extension

Pay rate: € 44.32/h with 40 hours per week

Client: A global technology and e-commerce company that offers a wide range of products through its online marketplace and provides services such as cloud computing, digital streaming, and artificial intelligence.

• Operate, monitor and maintain DWDM-based optical network infrastructure across data centers
  
• Plan and execute software upgrades and configuration changes on network devices in line with change management processes
  
• Coordinate maintenance activities with internal teams to ensure safe traffic rerouting and minimal service disruption
  
• Identify impacted devices, analyze scope of work, and prepare execution plans for network changes
  
• Troubleshoot complex network issues and ensure high availability and reliability of the optical network
  
• Collaborate closely with internal networking and operations teams to support day-to-day network activities
  
• Work with external vendors and hardware providers to support network operations and issue resolution
  
• Support capacity management and ensure efficient data transport across the network
  
• Contribute to process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and network performance
  
• Perform all activities remotely using network management and configuration tools (no field work required)

• Should have a minimum 3 years of experience in a Optical Network Operations/Support role
  
• Experience with the rollout and operations of large DWDM networks and Optical network technologies
  
• Experience with optical planning and modelling tools
  
• Experience troubleshooting DWDM/Optical systems
  
• Excellent network analysis fundamentals and robust troubleshooting skills. xcfaprz
  
• Candidates should also have had significant past experience with, and expertise in many of the following protocols & technologies: DWDM, T1/DS1, DS3, SONET (OC3, OC48), 802.2/3, 802.1d VLANs/STP, IPv4 & IPv6, TCP (internals & flow control), BGP, OSPF, HSRP/GLBP, PIMv2, IGMP, LDP, TACACS, IPSEC & VPNs, netflow, DNS, HTTP.
