Moog Ireland is a leading manufacturer and designer of motion control systems and solutions certified to Aerospace standards. Our products improve reliability, safety and performance in complex applications across a wide range of industries. We are seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to join our team at our electronics manufacturing and design facility at Ringaskiddy, Cork.
Job Summary
The Supplier Quality Engineer is part of the quality team, reports to the Quality and Lean Integration Manager, and works with minimal supervision. The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for all quality related aspects of supplier management including the KPI Supplier Quality Performance, which must be monitored and improved as required. The job tasks require collaboration and interfacing with external suppliers, corporate/group supplier quality engineering functions, customers and internal functions like supply chain, quality, manufacturing, engineering, materials/stores and senior management. Moog Ireland uses suppliers and Outside Service Providers locally and across the globe to meet its customer’s needs. Suppliers deliver electronic components, wire harnesses, bare PCB’s, metal work and the associated chemicals to put our product together. The role requires local and international travel and sometimes with short notice. Approximately 10% of the role would be spent travelling.
Specific Duties And Responsibilities
- Supports Continuous Improvement of Quality & Quality Systems.
- Monitor supplier quality performance, provide supplier performance reports, communicate issues to suppliers and drive improvements and supplier corrective actions.
- Review of customer requirements, identification and flow down of quality requirements to suppliers.
- Support cross functional teams in investigating quality issues to determine if supplier related.
- Support cross functional teams in identification, on-boarding and qualification of new suppliers including assessment and review of first articles and associated first article inspection reports.
- Support cross functional teams with periodic supplier surveys, risk assessments and supplier visits/audits.
- Maintain quality related system configurations for suppliers – e.g. approval status, scope of approval and linkage to quality requirements.
- Assesses and approves supplier requested process changes.
- Review and impact assessment of supplier notifications – e.g. related to material changes or material issues with potential impact to quality.
- Support Incoming Inspection in defining inspection strategies and methods, configuration of default and specific inspection criteria.
- Support and advise Incoming Inspection in assessment of nonconforming / potential nonconforming issues.
Preferred Experience And Qualifications
- Level 8 qualification in a relevant Engineering or Science discipline.
- Certified Quality Management Systems Auditor with a record of auditing suppliers is an advantage.
- A Lean qualification with a record of Continuous Improvement is an advantage.
- Experience with industry standards, such as ISO 9001, EN/AS9100, IPC-WHMA-A-620, and IPC-A-610/J-STD is an advantage.
- Good knowledge of electronics and metal machining processes, associated quality methodologies with the ability to read, interpret, and evaluate drawings for machined and electronic components.
- Good knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Sampling Plans, Statistics, PFMEA and 8D Problem-Solving.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication with an ability to communicate appropriately across the range of roles from senior management to line operators and similarly with senior personnel at our suppliers.
- Excellent organisation and problem-solving skills with a record of Continuous Improvement. xcfaprz
